Motor oil?

Not trying to start an oil debate. Just wondering if there are any do/don't for oil change. I usually go to a local or a Valvoline cause it's easier. Synthetic, any other considerations?

Like BlackWorksInc said as long as it meets the API rating and proper weight pretty much all the oil brands are fine. Many people have brand preferences; but it's hard to find a 5W30 that doesn't meet the Toyota Spec.

The OEM oil filters are definitely the way to go; affordable and well made, you can even buy in bulk. I even managed to find the JDM 90915-20004 oil filters that came installed from the factory a few years ago and stocked up. At the oil change interval of 5k miles recommended from the factory, pretty much any conventional or synthetic will do just fine.

I like to run a full synthetic (Mobil 1), mainly because it doesn't thicken up as much in the cold. Conventional oil pours like molasses when it is freezing out. I also run 6000+ miles between oil changes, used oil analysis from both V6 and V8s has shown that the 5000 mile interval is quite conservative, and that most oils can go for 7500+.

Another +1 for the OEM filters (the commonly available 90915-YZZD3 ones). They are cheaper and higher quality than other store bought ones I've used.
