Motorcycle Carrier...stiffer springs?

I own a 2006 Honda CRF250 dirt bike and I'm going to be using a motorcycle hitch carrier to haul it out to ocotillo wells and the track. The bike weights 204lbs and I will be taking 100-150 lbs of gear, food, clothes, gas, and camping equipment with me also. Do you think I will need to upgrade to stiffer springs in the rear to compensate this load? If so which OME springs should I upgrade to?

Hmm in my opinion they wont be needed.. Your 4runners springs in the rear should be able to take the stress. If its just a weekend thing it shouldent be a major concern. But by all means if you have the $$$ for it go ahead.

Well put it this way if he is pulling a 200+ pound bike plus like 150+ pounds of equipment then the trailer which would be im guessing 300 to 400.

thats like close to 700 lbs

What I think the original poster is saying is, he's going to use a hitch mounted carrier for his bike. Kind of like a bicycle carrier, but made for dirtbikes.
I've been thinking of doing the same thing for my KTM. I do know that you'll need a hitch rated at 500lbs tongue weight to handle the carrier extension x the bike weight.
I'm thinking you'll find that newer shocks and springs might be in your future.....

You should be fine. I like this option rather than a trailer but my bike is 586lbs.

I have an 07 CRF250R I am running OME 906 rear coils and it sags some with all my gear. I am considering going with 890 rear coils I just dont want the rear to be to high when I am not loaded. I would think with the stock coils your going to be riding on the bump stops the whole time.

that is the same bike carrier I am using lobody. I really like the lift on your 4runner...what shocks are you using? If i'm going to upgrade the rear i'll obviously want to do the front also.

What about Airlift1000 or Firestone's system? They're cheap, work well and when not in use cause no additional ride stiffness or loss of articulation*.

If the 3rd gen uses the rubber cone inside of the rear coil then you'd be set even with aftermarket springs; just trim it less than the directions say... If not then make one
