Don't have any current pics on the 5th gen, but my old Versahaul held my dirt bike and Ducati 748 without any issue's.

This one is cheaper, but perfect for dirt bikes

I carry a 430lbs 500cc streetbike on one of the Versahauls.
Maybe tempting fate with the non-v8 hitch on my 4th gen with RAS, but there should be some type of "leeway" in the 500lbs capacity.

Still looking for a v8 hitch rated for 700lbs... if I don't find one, I'll opt for one of the many aftermarket ones rated for 600lbs.

I use the AMC-400 to carry my KTM. It works okay for what it is. I have a few different anti-sway setups to try because the ones included dig through the hitch coating very easily and creates surface rust spots. Also, it loosens easily. Minor complaints, but for the price it saves having to store a trailer just to move the dirt bike to the trails.

Just wondering if you could give an update on the carrier with the air bags? I am about to get a 701 Enduro (330 lbs) and am thinking I should get the air bags done before getting the bike. I have an ARB Elements in the rear along with another 200-300 lbs of gear, typically.

What has your experience been? Handling? Anything would be appreciated.

I have the aluminum one with stabilizer and it works fine. Haul a DRZ400.
I did notice that the bike blocked the tail lights. I'm looking for a light kit for the hauler. ymmv

Old thread, but I have an AMC-400 also. Decent product especially considering how cheap it is. Longest trip with it and a WR250R was 5900 miles to and from Tennessee, and it did it with no issues.

I had a MotoTote on my 3rd and 4th gens. It was well built, held all kinds of dirt bikes, dual sports and supermotos. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and I never felt like they weren't safe.

Installed the airbags a couple of years ago and change the air pressure in the bags as needed to maintain rear sag. Not only do the bags help with the extra weight hanging off the rear, it also helps with just the tent.

No real change in handling as long as you stay on top of adjusting the pressures.

We run with an ARB 50qt all the time. Just add the motorycle and/or two 13'+ kayaks or the tent depending on what we're doing for the weekend/trip.

Im getting ready for a 6-9 month US tour/journey, mostly camping 7 days / month. Setting up a RTT, ecoflow, fridge etc.

Im considering bringing a second form of transport and would go with a KTM390 Adventure, but the weight of 390lbs plus a 70lb carrier, along with my rack, RTT, gear, might be too much.

Is it a bad idea to add that much? At 88,000 miles now Im ready to go to Bilstein 5100’s.

I could bring a mountain bike instead, but not as fun or capable for grocery runs etc.

You can DIY or find a fabricator to add onto a trailer hitch. If bike is lightweight.
My multi purpose carrier hitch uses a Reese 2 piece Hitch. I bolt on the horizontal carrier thru the tow ball hole. Photos of set up will not load here.
