Any suggestions on some good LED ones? Low wattage would probably let you tie into something existing like your brights, instead of having to add wiring….right???
I picked up a couple pair of cheap halogen's from Harbor Freight a couple years ago and have been meaning to install them. At a former company, there was one person who just put them through their 4runner's bumper top. Another there or that I saw had them on square tubing mounted just off the bottom of the front skid plate. When not offroading this is a good place for some lights (depends on desired usage), and is high enough for most snow (in CA 80 and 50 would be shut down long before snow height would be an issue, but heavy falling snow is like fog in that turning on your normal brights makes it worse as light bounces back at your eyes off the flakes instead of lighting up the area). But if you used an electrical plug and just a couple bolts, you could make it so it's easy to take off.
Going the other way, the rooftop lights are great when not on the road (don't think they are street legal, whereas you might get by with "fog lights" sometimes). I've thought about attaching them to a roof rack to avoid extra roof holes, and then you just have to get power up there.
