Mounting off road lights to the Grill

I am toying around with the idea of Mounting a pair KC Slim Offroad lights to the Grill and had a question for you all (The lights would actually be attached to a piece of metal that is poking through the grill and the metal would be attched to the hood.) Do you guys think the hood struts will be strong enough to hood open with the added weight?

I know the lights will vibrate because the hood isn't a "Solid" mount and I am fine with that. I am more interested in obtaining the "Offroad Look", I don't go offroading so the vibration is not a concern for me.

I have seen the floating bumper lights mod as well as the defiant light bar option. I prefer the lights to raise with the hood, which is why I am toying around with this idea and wondering about the feasibility of this option.

Sounds like it's worth a try as long as you have something firm(ish) supporting the mount. It'll probably vibrate a lot but if you don't mind that I wouldn't think two 6" lights would weigh too much for the hood struts but then I also don't know how strong the supports are..

You could always make the mounts, bolt something of similar weight to it, and try opening & closing the hood a few times before spending the money on the lights.

That's a good idea, as common sense as it is...I just didn't think of it. I'll add some weight to the hood and see how the struts handle it. If nothing at least I can get a ballpark figure of how much weight I can add.
