Mounting Spare tire extension

Did this to my Tacoma a few years back and got around to the T4R today.

These are available commercially:
Amazon.com: Accu-gage - Chek A Spare, Valve Extender: Automotive

You also need a Hood Support clip. There are lots of 'em out there. My dealer had PN 53455-33011 in stock.

I mounted the clip here:

I used this to drill the hole. Just went up a step at a time until I had it right.

Attach the extender to the spare and clip it in place:

Invisible from above, but just reach under and unclip to check or add air:

Thanks.

Makes me wonder...

Maybe I could give Toyota an idea or two. BUT there are some guys on here and the Tacoma forums I frequent that could definitely make an impact. You'd think they'd keep an eye on these forums and steal some talent - or at least the ideas.

I wonder if the black headlights on the trail edition were inspired by BHL mods?

Not a bad idea at all!!

I do a 5-Wheel Rotation so my spare is already at a higher psi when stored so it gives it time to dissipate air. And where I live and the road salt during the winter, checking my air and unscrewing & screwing back on my valve cap necessary to prevent corrosion.
