Mounting "toyota" homelink mirror

I've seen quite a bit of information on wiring an autodim/homelink mirror, but I had questions on the actual mounting. I purchased a homelink/autodim/compass mirror, which "came off of a 2006 Toyota 4Runner". My wife's 06 SE came with the basic mirror. It has a cover, with a slot on the downfacing edge. The attached pdf shows the mirrors. I had two questions:

1) What is the best way to remove the factory mirror... without breaking the window?

2) Will the homelink mirror and the basic mirror share the same mounting button?

I have some reservations about tearing into a week-old truck. I was thinking about having a glass shop mount the mirror, then doing the wiring myself if the mounting is too involved. However, if it is as simple as pop the cover off, unscrew a fastener, slide off, install homelink, etc. I hate to pay someone to do that.

Update

I spoke to a glass shop in the area. They were confident that I would not damage the window. If anyone has removed a factory basic mirror, any input would be appreciated.

The original mirror is easy to take off. Just tilt it all the way down, this will "unlatch" it, and then just slide it up off the mounting plate. I replaced mine with the Toyota auto-dimming mirror so it used the same mounting plate.

I had a chance to look at the old mirror and I think you need to tilt it up rather than down to release it. Sorry, but it's been a while since I replaced it.

i used a big pliers and gripped the cover by the sides and wiggled it off.
then there is a tab or claw on the bottom of the mirror on the windshield mount and moving it either to the front or back allows the mirror to be slid off the wedge mount glued to the windshield.
took me less than 5 minutes once i figured out what to do. i had looked at that cover for a week trying to figure out what to do.

I followed those directions and it was fine. I thought at first I would need pliers to remove the cover but once I pinched the correct spot, the cover came right off. Then just hit the latch holding the mirror.

The autodimming Toyota mirror I installed slid right on the same button and after I tightened down the hex screw, good to go..
