Moving To Fairbanks Alaska

So im moving to Fairbanks, AK and i have a 2006 Sport 4x4. My problem is i have very plain ordinary street tires and up there weather is much more sever than ive ever seen. Im just looking for a few suggestions for what kind of tires would probably be the best for the snow and ice conditions ill encounter. ive been looking at general grabber at2's which have very good reviews for all weather driving conditions and great snow and ice traction. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure you are already looking at engine block heaters, battery warmer, survival kit (A good one), and a good two way radio(CB). If you plan to go exploring or doing back country trips you will need more stuff. I was at Ft.Greely back in 1984 at the Northern Warfare Training School, not sure if they still call it that, but it gets serious cold up there. The country is gorgeous, you should have a good time if you like the outdoors.

You may want to look into studs and or chains on top of the good tires.

Yea quite a change and its gonna be hard to get used to. I forgot about a block heater and all the other various heaters im gonna need so some info on that would be awesome too.
