MP3 Files on Flash Drive

Has anyone had an experience where the truck does't play certain MP3 files that are on a flash drive in the glove? Sometimes mine will just skip certain songs and I can't figure out why. I've examined the properties of the files that aren't playing compared to files that are, and nothing jumps out at me. Obviously the files are working MP3's that play anywhere else. I've tried different flash drives, etc. Just wondering: 1. if anyone else has experienced this, 2. if anyone knows why they won't play.

Yes, I'm seeing the same problem. I've got the new EMINEM album on there, and it pretends it's not even there. It plays fine when burned as MP3 to a CD. I also tried a different drive, no luck. I finally just connected my iphone to the USB port and played them that way - which works fine. These songs are NOT DRM protected, I even shortened the filenames thinking maybe they were too long. I've also not found a reason why this happens. I'm just as stumped as you but I've got a workaround.

Try searching for that topic. I thought I saw that there was something to do with connecting the drive then adding songs that the new songs were not able to be played until another device was plugged into the truck.

After the other device was plugged in, then the original device plugged back in, all of the songs were there. I think it might be in one of these threads.

I read a little more and the third link posted above has this in it.

Thanks to ATV223:

I took my flash drive out, added some new music, used FolderSort to get everything in alphabetical order again. When I plugged it back in, surprisingly it started mid way in a song. When I scrolled through all the folders, a lot weren't showing up. I plugged it back into my computer and all the files were there. Back out to the 4Runner, plugged in, still not showing up. Took that one out plugged a different one in (reset), put the original one in and viola all folder and songs are there and in the correct order.

That may be different than the problem that you are having though...
