MPG on your 3rd Gen?

running around town 200ish freeway 300+ per tank. just made a 2000+ mile round trip from central cali to Seattle Washington loaded heavily. 5 passengers with cargo to the ceiling. my guess is probably 1100-1300lbs in gear/people. averaged about 300 mile per tank with 265/75/16's irok nd's. only other mods are catback with flowmaster 50 series and drop in k&n air filter. 65-80mph average. way over do for plugs, wires, ect. so not to shabby. thats even with driving over the pass in the snow. ran 4wd for a couple miles. i never really run the reserve very low. so probably 1.5- 2 gallons still in tank.

+21mpg under those conditions is impressive....love me some 4 Runner!!

Hey all Ok thanks a lot guys, didn't mean to beat a dead horse just trying to get actual numbers as I was seeing people claiming "24mpg" and all and was wondering what was the deal with my 4runner.

My best tank was 25.6 mpg US, and I am still trying to figure out what happened to my 4runner as it leaned out significantly 80,000 kms ago - plugs burn white as snow, and great economy. I have 515, 000 kms on it with original injectors and no engine work other than timing belts and spark plugs.

My ave. since last November is 18.9.
My last MPG was 19.5, and
My best was 20.2

I've run with a P0171 (lean code) this whole time. Does this mean when I get the code fixed my MPG will dip cause its no longer lean???

I tracked mine for a few months before I lifted it. Stock 2001 SR5 3.4L 4wd on 265/70R16 HTs

With ECT on, I averaged 19.2mpg
With ECT off, I averaged 19.0mpg

This is probably 50/50 hwy/city driving and only includes normal commuting (no long highway trips, offroading, etc)

After two tanks of mostly city driving with 285s on it, it's looking like I'm averaging around 14.5mpg :Cry:

I've found that I usually get about 280 miles to my tank before the gas light comes on.

I regularly put in 17+ gallons in my 2002 Limited. I usually average 18.4 mpg, my commute's always the same. 242k miles and 265/75/16 tires.

My MPG is about 14mpg for tank average with mostly city driving and 285/75R16 mud terrains on a 2” lift. I feel like that’s slighlty subpar, but I didn’t really buy this for the fuel economy lol. I only get at most 200 miles on a tank and fill up about 30 miles after the light comes on.

Ya I get slammed for my mpg all the time.
I tell them if i wanted good mpgs I would have gotten a smaller car that's lower to the ground.

Same numbers here. I quit tracking it because it never changed. 5-speed and not driving like it's a powerhouse.

I've been getting around 13L/100kms lately on super gas and 80km/hr country roads.

That's about 18 mpg in red white and blue numbers.

3" lift, BFG KO A/T, 3.4 manual, basket and lights on roof, armored.

13-16 mpg E10 gas depending on hwy/city ratio and how loaded down/stuff in roof rack.

Lift went on at just over 200,000 miles, basket came next, then armor ending with the bumpers over the past couple years...

That's the MPG sweet spot right there on mine.

80km/hr on Cruise Control with OD and LockUp sitting at about 1600 RPM.
