Tires and MPG read Out
I replaced OEM Bridgestones after 80K miles (great tires !) with same size Michelins. Before the new tires, actual MPG calculated at fill uos was about 2MPG below onboard computer....actual about 19 - 20 vs 21-22 on computer. With the Michelins. computer and actual MPG decreased. by about 2MPG. Tuirns out the new tires are bigger, even tough size is supposed to be the same. My speedometer is off by about 7%. I used GPS device and determined that 75 on speedometer is actually 80MPH and that 100 miles on odometer = 107 miles on GPS odometer. Now I multiply mileage by 1.07 at fill ups and divide by gallons. I'm right back at 19-20 MPG.
My advice....stick with Bridgestones.......Michelins are bigger even though they have same sze stamped on them.
