MPG Weird After new Wheels

Just installed some 17" Ultra Guantlet Wheels with some Nitto Tires 265 70 17.
Had the local tire place switch the TPMS sensors over to new wheels.
All was good until I noticed my MPG has gone up. Used to be steady at 19.5.

Now it's like between 21-23 MPG.
And it jumps everywhere, every few seconds it jumps from 21.4 to 21.6 and so forth.

Is this normal?

the only reliable way to check your mpg is by filling up, reseting the trip, then when you re-fill divide the miles on the trip by the gallons you put in to fill it back up..

Without pix, these don't exist! :-)

Did they or you reset your mileage calc? When you first reset it, it does jump all over the place, especially if you are experiencing varying driving conditions and speeds.

Two things:

1. The rims are lighter than the stock ones, possibly by a substantial amount. Reduction in unsprung weight has a big effect on mileage.

2. If you were a computer and had 3000 miles or whatever of gas consumption data (I don't know how many miles it uses in its average calc) and something suddenly boosted your mileage, you'd be displaying the same confusing numbers, because you're confused. As posted before. Reset it and forget it.

ETA: yes, no pics is a violation of the rules, IIRC :)

I have your exact same setup on my 4R. 17x9 Ultra Gauntlet on 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers (love those tires fyi) I got a lift planned this summer and also at that time size up to some bigger tires. I wanna try the Nitto Trail Grapplers. Not the best pic but i took it on my phone, looks much better in person. I also had a similar issue when i put the new wheels on only it wasn't jumping around like yours is. I filled up the tank, reset the mpg thing on the odo, drove around town as i normally do and at my next fill up the computer finally stayed on 19.5. Before it would read that, then i'd go to the store and it would light up 20.1 then back to 19.5 but now all is normal and i'm pleased with my set up for now. P.S. these tires handled great in the snow! I took the 4R through some serious snow that day....i got the base SR5 and i've been blacking everything out, next the door handles.
