thanks dcampen, but does anyone know if the soap that comes with it will strip off wax?

According to the Q&A in the link you posted it does not strip the wax:

Autodry

Target stores (in SoCal) have the AutoDry starter kit for $19 and I got a $5 off coupon from the web site I posted above so I think I will go buy one tonight.

i have had the mr clean autodry for awhile but i do not use it anymore. i do auto detailing on the side and i thought it would be a great addition to my arsenal, but the city where i live in has very hard water and i keep having to replace the filter every three car washes and also i noticed that when u do your final rinse that it leave sediments left oven on the paint (no water spots) so basically it does not measure up to my standards...

The water where I live seems not very hard. The cartridges cost $6 at Target and claim they are good for "up to 10" washes, I figured that even if I only got 4 or 5 washes per cartridge that that would be OK. The sediments though, I don't like that, what do they look like?

it makes it look like the person that washed it didnt really do a good job... looks like tons of dust and dirt particles
and i am extremely meticulous when i wash my cars so therefore it just looked crapy...
the worst was when i did my dad's black caddy, so i hosed it down again and went over it will some soft towels to make it look good...

Used the Autodry.

I washed my truck this weekend with the Autodry system. It was midday on a warm sunny day and there was no shade to wash in so if I had done a regular wash I would have had trouble drying quick enough to avoid water spots thus I decided to try the Autodry system.

The Autodry system did a good job. It left my truck nice and shiny with no water spots. I did notice streaks on my windows that I had to remove with glass cleaner. Perhaps on a dark colored vehicle these streaks would have been noticeable on the paint but not on the Dorado Gold paint on my truck.

I did notice that my sponge was left looking very dirty after using the Autodry system. Somehow the soap doesn't seem to clean the sponge like the Turtle Wax wash I had been using.

same here with the dirty sponge. also, water beads up on my two front windows, and ONLY those windows. is this because of the rainx coating from the dealer? otherwise, the system works fine on my black 4runner.

Why would anyone waste their money on such a product? Oh, perhaps the same people who take their cars through car washes and let the neighborhood kid wash their car for $5.00. :xnuts:

Products that sound too good to be true usually are. It takes me a whopping 5 more minutes to dry my rig with a microfiber towel from Griot's or about 30 seconds to get on the highway!

There is no substitute for good products and elbow grease!

I just bought and used the thing this past weekend. So far, I'm not impressed. After the final rinse, the truck was still covered in water spots and sediment from the hard-water filter (as the_josh mentioned).

Although, we do have extremely hard water here in SD county...so I can't really say whether or not it works the way it's supposed to....

I think I might just return the damn thing. :dammit:

Wow, you can dry your truck in 5 minutes! It takes me probably 15-20 minutes. I use a chamois. Either the microfiber is much more efficient or you are a real speed deamon.

I have never found driving on the highway to be an effective way to dry my car.

That said, I don't like the AutoDry product. It does leave this soap film on your truck that streaks anytime some drops of moisture run along the surface. I may still use it on rare occaision when the truck is filthy and I don't have time for a proper wash that day.
