Just thought I would share this article on msn that ranked the most popular suv based on the number of hits on its sites.

1. Explorer
2. 4runner
3. Pilot

They put it well: "The Toyota 4Runner was one of the first sport utilities; it has evolved into a luxury SUV that continues to offer a high level of off-road capability."

I really love the 4 runner but the credibility of that research..... explorer isnt good for me

It's the most popular SUV, not most capable or versatile, so it's credible. Also, it's based on hits from MSN Auto site visitors.

Not to mention the article is over 5 years old, so things have changed. The 4Runner might not even be in top 3 anymore, since the market has shifted towards crossover SUVs.

Edit: Just checked the link (it's now based on hits from summer 2008 rather than 2004), the 4Runner isn't even on top 10 and the Explorer has moved to #10. It's still a Toyota at #2, the RAV4, and Highlander at #7. Maybe if all the members here jump over to MSN Auto and click around for the 4Runner, it'll bring it back on Top 10.
