Mt. Antero Trail

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has been up this trail Linky before, I'm planning a trip to Co this June and we are planning to drive up it. I'm mostly concerned with the width of the trail and possible scratches on my truck.

Yeah I know it's a 4runner, it's suppose to have trail marking's etc... but it's still brand new, and would like to keep it looking that way as long as possible :)

Oh, my 4Runner is 5th gen, Limited completely stock, so also worried about the 20" hwy tires trying to go up this trail.

Thanks for any input.

You shouldn't have any trouble with Antero in a T4R. But I wouldn't count on doing it in June. You should check again before you head up since we've had a lot of late season snow this year and trails are expected to open later than usual ... if at all. In fact, we're getting hit again in the next few days.

and its suppose to snow again tomorrow or the next day, the mountains are going to get "feet" of snow, Im getting tired of it, lol
Lets us know when for sure you will be here, Im sure there will be a few that will tag along.

Thanks guys, yeah I wasn't gonna plan on going all the way to the top, just the tree line, or the creek I've read about :).

come in August

June is too early for sure. Some trails are only open a month or so per year.

But ric and his Co4Lo crew will find some fine spots for you all the same.

Stay in touch over on another forum, we all will probably be banned again for June.

Thanks for the info, any suggestions for a novice level trail to go on? Since from the sounds of it, in early June (10th - 12th) Mt. Antero will be closed or impassable. Wish I could come out in Aug/Sep, the group of folks I'm going with can only get away in June That's close to Salida? Going to be camping Rincon this weekend.

I've never been to Co, other then Denver and that was a business Conference and I never left the hotel other then to Airport. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Mountains. :-)

ric: If you want tag along that sounds fun, we are going have my 4Runner, and buddy is bringing his FJ TTE. He would be open for more stuff then I am, willing to attempt at this time. What I'm looking for is something that would be more challenging than a dirt road, but nothing that will damage the truck in anyway.
