MT/R--Terra Grapler--BFG All Terrain

I currently have BFG All Terrains on my 4 runner. Its time for new tires, so ive been looking at the Wrangler MT/Rs as well as the Nitto Terra Graplers. I was wondering if anybody could give me a noise comparison between the BFGs I have now and the MTRs. I want the MTRs but if there to noisy, then ill go with the Terra Graplers.

MTRs will always be more noisy than AT tires on the highways. I've heard really good things about Nitto Terra Graplers so I don't think you would go wrong with them.
 
MTRs are pretty sweet looking. It all depends on your level of acceptable sound. There will be a noticeable hum when you're above 35mph or more depending on the brand but it's usually not intrusive unless you get really big tires (35" and up).

Also note that most MTRs aren't very good on snow and ice and sometimes not very good in rain/wet conditions too.

Unless you do serious off-roading, I'd recommend ATs over MTRs.
 
At least it is a data point for someone to go on. Better than nothing. IMO talking to people with different set-ups directly, is the best resource for info. Such as this forum provides.
 
Definitely. TireRack also has ratings for all the tires it sells from their customers which is better than any "independent" tests.

Not,really since most tires become a popular choice and how would I trust a bunch of people who's standards of what a good tire really is vs side by side comparisons.

I know alot of people that think BFG A/Ts have great wet/dry handling when I personally have driven on several of the competitors tires and the BFGs truly aren't a wet weather tire but some people's standards and expectations of a tire are different than mine so I prefer honest testing instead of the general public's opinions.
 
That's why you read ALL of the ratings. Usually on a popular tire, there's over 100 opinions and it helps when they tell you what vehicle it's on and driving styles. I find it much better than CR. As with anything you read on the 'net, YMMV.
 
Nittos installed... I love them, there quiet, and look awsome. Havent gotten a chance to see how they do off road yet
 
Other then the fact that BFGs seem to last forever, Ive never really been impressed with them off road. Clog up with mud all the time, and wet traction never seemed that great.

Well hopefully you get good wear out of these. They do look like they might clean out better...I guess you can let us know.
