Multi light vs light bar for Gobi stealth

I know the wait time is long but I’m about to order a Gobi stealth rack for my 5th gen. What’s the popular option as far as light bar vs multi light bar. I don’t think I’ll ever install either and I guess I look at it as what would be most popular when the time comes to sell it way down the road.

I've ordered mine but not received. I went light bar. I figured two less vertical bars may help with wind noise. Who knows. Figured the multi light may be stronger but not sure why you would need that in that area of the rack.

I'm not sure what you mean by you'll never install it but if you're going for looks just get a light bar.

The purpose of the multiple lights is to have directional light. You can have your middle one straight forward and the two side lights angled slightly to give you more spread.

I personally like the look and functionality of the multiple lights but thats me.

Its personal preference. Do what you want with your rig, the difference between the two wont help selling it down the road.

I meant never utilize the mounts for lighting. Thanks for the opinions . I’m going to go with the multi light set up

No light bars for me. I went with the multi-light setup. I'd be willing to bet money the two vertical bars provide enough turbulence to help with noise up top. I'd imagine the empty space with the flat bar up top would whistle. Plus, the vertical bars make it a little less empty/not complete looking without lights.

My advice is to get the multi-light setup if you do not plan to mount any lights up there.

I haven't ordered one, and I'm not sure if I will, but I was pondering the same question (which to get if not intending to add lights).

For me, it came down to which I thought looked better, which for me was the multi-light. I like the extra bars. However, I didn't think about wind noise...

I should clarify that I dont use lights either. Kept it simple.



If I were to put lights on there I would go the multiple lights vs a light bar

Just ordered a Gobi Stealth recently myself. Personally I went with the no-rise light bar setup. I didn't want the big front rise cause I didn't want to put a big dual row light bar on there. So I decided to go with the no-rise to have a more flat roof line and the light bar setup to just have one clean light bar across the front

Personally I think for a bare rack without lights, the multi light bar looks better with the front vertical supports. Without it the supports and no light bar blocking it, looks a little weird.

Others probably won’t notice though, and will just see how cool your rack is. Haha

According to Gobi (a/k/a The Evil Empire), there is no difference in rack height between the multi-light and light bar racks. The only diff is the two vertical bars for the multi-light rack.

Gobi has an option that you can custom order to allow you to not have the front "rise" in the rack (where the two vertical supports are). That part of the rack rises up to be taller than the other 3 sides of the rack. I wanted my rack to be flat on all 4 sides instead of having 3 sides equal and the front rise. Gobi offers this as the "no-rise" option.

With the no-rise option, the front can still be setup to be light bar or multi light, but all sides of the rack will be equal height at its tallest point. Hope that clears things up.

I went with a single row extreme led light bar. Can’t complain, I love this setup!!!!!

I had the same dilemma and went with the 40" light bar vs multi light setup. Something worth considering, the top tube bar will make a whistle noise at high speeds, getting a light bar will reduce/eliminate that noise. Also, maybe I'm just simple minded but when would you use just 1 light source when you have multi setup? I went with the full 40" light bar simple bc of that and also I didnt want to run more wires, more harnesses, more switches.

You have less wind noise with a light bar than without?

I 100% believe that. The flat round bar up top has nothing to disrupt turbulence. So it makes more noise and likely to whistle. The light bar makes the air flow differently which equals less noise.

If you look back at round bar Yakima setups they made a little fin that would clip onto the bar to clean up the air and make it quieter.

here I found a photo of this. I am sure it would work on the Gobi rack also to cut down on some noise.
