multi link rear susspension??

I just bought a 1990 4runner today with a blown motor. i found out it was a canadian model once i got it home, but the rear end has multilink suspension on it, is this normal on the 4runner? i thought they all had leaf springs.

I 'believe' that 1990 was the first year for 2nd Gens. With that major bodystyle change, came the new rear axle setup.

Others may have more info regarding this.

yea i wanted to lower mine but it has a 4 link in the back but my uncle when he bought the tuck he bought the repair manual with it and every pic shows it having a leaf spring.

I have a 90 and yes, it has the multilink. A buddy has a 89 and it has the leaf springs.

only good thing about the multi link is that u can take the coils out and put 2 air bags in and make it lower but other then that u cant lower it.
