So, recently I purchased a 2006 Toyota 4Runner V6 2WD SR5 164K Miles.
I changed the plugs, and a wheel bearing that was on it's way out the door.
Checked the Toyota Service Records and the last time it was at a dealer was around 69,000 miles. However I'm guess it was an at home maintenance type of guy. The plugs when I pulled them were in decent shape and Denso.
So my concerns are as follows:
This unit has the W/S fluid, which has never been changed according to the records, it doesn't shift funny or anything. Should I have it flushed or changed at the dealer? I called two separate dealers in the area and they both are very cautious saying it's unnecessary?
Also, from reading the owners manual my A/T Oil Temp light doesn't light up at initial start up/at all but the manual says that's only for the four wheel drives?
Automatic Transmission Fluid
Temperature Warning Light
(four−wheel drive models)
Next the coolant is RED. To my knowledge RED means LLC and PINK is SLLC so why is this red and not pink? I'm guessing it's never been changed.
Finally my last concern is that I got a code two times at start up, dealer checked and now it's sitting in the original dealers shop that I bought it from and they are pulling the timing chain to see whats up. It doesn't run funny, it doesn't limit rpms and the light goes off once the vehicle is warm. I know this is a lot of info but I'm just looking for opinions. Dealer wants 250 for the W/S flush, Coolant Flush 160, and if I would have let them mess with the chain 3500 hahaha right back to the original dealer I went which is not a Toyota dealer.
