Mushy brakes!

I have never been able to get a good feel in the brakes on my 3 Gen 4runner. I bought a new master cylinder, bench bled it and then bled the whole system after it was installed. The improvement was just marginal. I have all that antilock crap on there and think that may be part of the problem.

It is annoying enough where I don't feel confident that they would work fast enough in a panic situation..... it's like the pedal travel has a slight resistance when you really have to stomp them. .......otherwise it just has a lot of travel and no firm feel at all.

hgave you tried adjusting your rear brakes yet. helped with the mushyness on mine.

Upgrading to braided stainless hoses throughout will firm up the feel, but there's gotta be some other underlying cause to the mushiness. Your hoses are new enough that they shouldn't need replacing. Is the fluid level stable? (ie, no leaky rear cylinders)

No, but that is a good idea.


No leaks, so I guess I will try to adjust.
