Music turns off when I hit bumps!! HELP!

Hey everyone so I recently had Pioneer FH-X700BT Head unit installed in my 2000 Toyota 4Runner Sport. It replaced a Pioneer DEH-X6600BS. Just recently I went out to the desert to do a little off racing and it was naturally bumpy. I have noticed now that when I hit bumps the music started cutting out and only my sub would make sound then just as quickly it would come back. I figured it was probably nothing but its gotten worse and now won't play music except for short times if i go over a bump. I don't know why this happened or how to fix it but it's really annoying. Any tips or help would be great! Thanks!

I would start with finding out what the ground wire is connected to.

If you had it installed by a professional, take it to him/her. If you did it yourself, you need to check out what you connected. This doesn't sound like a 4runner issue as much as it does a poor installation issue.

Just to state the obvious: are you listening to a CD/MP3 Disc? If so then that's just how CD payers work when going over 4x4 bumps.

If not a CD then you probably have a loose wire. I'm sure they will fix it if you complain so just take it back to them.

Hey everyone thanks for all the suggestions. Ended up calling a guy at an Audio car place and he told me to check my speakers for disconnected wires or loose wires that could ground out all the speakers making them unable to play. Checked my driver door and sure enough the negative wire had come off. All working now and I got my music back!

Yup, I agree if it's a CD you are listening to and doing 4x4 then it will skip. From vibration. It throws the CD or the laser of it's balanced axis. Which ever. But if it's not a CD then most likely loose wire.
