I used this guy who was referred to me, PM me and I can shoot you his info. I opted for ceramic so it was 80 for front 2

285's with 17x8.5" icon wheels.
Tire size doesn't matter on the center of hub to bottom of fender measurement.

Haha yeah I meant in perception. How are your 285s? Are they good for the road ? Any noise or any downside? I'm thinking of going to 275 or 285

Haha seriously! I'm getting the suspension around the 15th and probably doing the 1.25 wheel spacers in the meantime. PM me your # and we should get quotes

That looks great. I'm still undecided on dipping the emblems until I have more black accents. Like the front valance or when I decide to vinyl wrap the rack.

Just got the spacers!

I just got the spider wheel spacertrax 1.25 wheel spacers. I didn't have a torque wrench but getting one this week and installing those. I'll do some before and after photos. It should give it somewhat a decent wider stance

TRD SKid plates

Hey fellow 4runners! I installed the TRD skid plate on my KDSS today. It took a while to do the curve cuts but it fit. I also filed down the edges so they weren't so sharp. What I didn't realize I had to do was remove the radiator support bars to fit the skid plate, I also had to use the OEM bolts on the back in case anyone was wondering but it turned out great! I'm still going to use a dremel to sound down the cuts more.

Mods update
- Skid Plate - Done
- CAI - Installing this week
- Lift - Scheduled for next week
- Tires - Debating between 285s of 275s (I'm really digging the nitto grapplers though)
- Spidertrax spacers - I got them in the mail, probably will install them this week.

First post here, new to the forum. OP love your build so far, the TRD skid plate looks great! I am curious why you would not be able to order a TRD skid plate made for the KDSS. I have a 2018 TRD Off Road Premium with KDSS on order from my dealership. I ordered it from the factory with the TRD skidplate. So it would seem that Toyota makes them, or maybe they mod them on a jig at the factory? I had to special order mine so I could get the factory slide out cargo deck. Evidently they install special frame mounts at the factory to accommodate the slide out deck for the 300+lb rating, so you can't just bolt one in unless it was made at the factory for the deck. I'll keep watching to see how yours looks with the liftop2:

No I haven't really started looking/calling for quotes.
Since my purchase time frame is end of the year.

I'm heading out to Oahu and Kauai at the end of Oct so I'm rolling back on spending for now.

I did just pick up on rago fab mounts and a led bar for behind the grill. Also Baja Designs Squadrons for my fogs.

After writing this down I realized I couldve spent that on tires :noidea:

Thanks man! When I ordered my skid plate a while back they didn't make any specifically for kdss. I think the dealer is doing the cut for you to fit it unless they started selling kdss skid plates in 2018? That would definitely save a lot of the headache haha.

I took these this morning. I opted for the ceramic tint to keep the california heat out The tint guy did a great job in matching it up.

Where is your tint guy located? Can I get their info? Rig looks great.

Skid Plate Installed

I installed the skid plate last week. It was a pain in the ... cutting through the TRD Skid plate to fit the KDSS but it was definitely worth it. I just used a jigsaw and a dremel to sand it down. I think it will show more once the 4runner gets leveled this week. I'll do some before and afters but here's a quick update!

Nice looking ride! Mine is the exact same TRDOR in white, but mine came with these ugly chrome sided steps that I'll be removing soon. Can't decide if I should go ahead and swap out the stock rims for the black TRD's, or wait until the crappy stock Dunlops wear out to do a complete rim/tire swap at the same time.

Hey man! Congrats on doing it! In my opinion it makes a world of difference on the 5th gens. I'm actually waiting for my 4runner (it's being lifted/new tires) as we speak. If you don't plan on really going hardcore off roading, why dont you look at the Nitto Terra Grapplers 285? They are the same tire as the Pro but bigger and they are C rated so they should be smoother on the road and weigh a lot less then the BFGs. The K02s are E rated so they are stronger but they also weigh a lot more. I think the k02s are better for 4runners that really push the car. In my case, this is my daily driver so I need somewhat efficiency and comfort which is why I elected for the Nittos. I'll post pictures tonight. Also the Nittos only cost $180 on Amazon.

Yeah I think the Dark Gray or the White 4runners are my favorite! Haha it's funny you mentioned the side steps, I was debating getting some depending on how the minor lift turns out. My GF always complains the 4runner is too high lol. Why don't you paint them or plastic dip them and see how they look black.

The TRD rims look so great in my opinion. I was drawn towards the look of the TRD Pro so it definitely makes the 4runners look even better. As for the tires, I was about the wear out the Dunlops but after the lift, I think they would look way too small so i opted for the Grapplers. I'm going to sell them along with my OEM rims that were initially on the car. I say go get the TRD rims! #Treatyoself

Lift + Tires

I got the 4runner back! I went with the 2.5/1.5 lift with the 285 Nitto Terra Grapplers G2. The ride is definitely smooth and so far the MPG hit hasn't been felt yet. I'll do a write up once I put some more miles with the new setup but I'm very happy with how it turned out. The 285s are definitely a good fit for the lift and it fills out very nicely. I definitely needed a setup that can be a daily driver with off road capabilities and it this fit perfectly. I didn't add the wheel spacers yet but I will be installed the CAI this weekend. I'll take some more pics later today with a before and after installation but here's a preview!
