My 1999 Limited 4Runner : Pics

I have decided that it's time for me to show off some pictures of my 4Runner. I just added a Fram Boost CAI and I hope to next add a JAOS front skid plate (even though I don't wheel yet). I really want to get some clear lenses for the fog lights and turn signals.

Let me know what you guys think.

You can't probably see with the picture being low resolution... but I DO have a 3M clearshield installed all on my front bumper, front 9" of hood, mirrors, and more.

Fram CAI

My all weather mats. Very nice IMHO.

My portable jukebox. I am anti-iPod.

My alpine headunit. You can see the jimmy-rigged AUX wire for the MP3 player until Alpine gets their interface back into Stock.

I would post a picture of the subwoofers but I am currently trying to design a new box that is less lame than the everyday grey-box.

Very nice pics! Looks in mint shape and I like the color combination as well. Did you get those all-weather mats recently? I tried to obtain a set but the dealer tells me they've been discontinued.

I ordered them at the beginning of June. I think your dealer is feeding you crap because they (Toyota) will always have all weather mats.

You may need to find a different part number. I have seen a few different styles.... being the tan/grey like I have or black mats with a whole diffent ridge pattern.

Good start to the truck but I would just go with the much cheaper factory bling 4Runner skidplate since it's easy to remove for 4wheeling.
The Jaos plate will reduce your approach angle a bit and it won't handle hitting rocks real well. It's mostly a show piece and it cost 4 times as much as the Toy plate but the JAOS does look better but not really for off road protection and it can't be removed in a minutes notice for an off road trip.

The all weather mats do the job but it looks like the 4th gen mats don't cover as much toward the front as the actual 3rd gen mats do.

I do like the FRAM cai... the only thing I don't like is the price... it was $210....

I am going to do the deckplate mod and the intake silencer removal mod to compare performance while I still have my 30-day return period on the Fram.

oh okay. yeah that is a little steep for a CAI but maybe you get what you pay for? the deckplate mod isn't bad, i havent done the silencer removal, but the deckplate mod is a little crude (i didnt have much cutting experience...haha) plus it "ruined", take it for what you will, my stock airbox. i don't think my parents would approve me cutting into the engine of my car; they might get suspicious of me once our new car gets in.

My deckplate sounds like any CAI kit but as a noticeable power increase is negligible but it does seem to have a bit better throttle response.
My deckplate job was a little rough but the ring covers the not-so-perfect cutting and I also put a piece of screen door material right over the ring insert using a hose clamp and that keeps out bigger debris like leaves and small pebbles and also the possible small rodent.

Ah yeah... I never thought about small objects finding their way into the airbox hole.

I think I am better off keeping the Fram Boost even though it was kinda pricey. The boost looks cleaner and definately sounds great. Fitment is also very good. The heat shield/element shield keeps water out very well. I drove it when it was raining and then checked the engine compartment and it was dry.

wow that sounds pretty impressive. the deckplate is a little more raspy for me. that's definately a deep sound and something that i like

p.s. did you keep your 4runner in 2 for that clip and then put it into drive? sounds like you took 2nd almost all the way to 70 haha

Nope, the 4runner was in drive the whole time. The ramp was just fairly steep all the way to 70.

if you ever do the deckplate plus isr.. its a lot louder then that.

I like the way that fram looks but I cant justify 210 for same performance as deckplate + isr. plus that heatsheild only pulls from the elbow location.. should be open more like the K&N heatsheild to pull in from headlight lamp too.

I think I definately want to do the mods to the stock box. Then, I will have more money to put toward the supercharger!!! Sweeet....
