Hi all, I'm new to this forum and am a proud owner of a new 2005 4Runner V8 since 12/4. I've been driving gently on it so far, but the engine is simply silky smooth. Have been reading up on information from this forum. Glad to be a part of it.

Good stuff, post a pic of the engien compartment I want to see if there is any visible difference.

Also we would love to know how it performs and MPG once it has a few miles on it.

Astro, where are you located? I've been monitoring here in Northern VA and have yet to see one in stock.

Congrats on the new ride! Good luck with it! You are lucky because the dealers here are first getting them in December 15.

Thanks guys.

I'm located in Oregon, which may be the reason why it arrived early. I'm sure it'll start trickling throughout the US very shortly.

On top of the engine block now has the V8 VVTi label. There isn't a big plastic cover on top similar to the V6 VVTi. I will try to get an image posted if I can.

Officially, the V8 sticker says 16 city/19 hwy.

I just drove >300 miles on a short trip, going between 60-75 mph mostly on the fwy. I ended up averaging ~18.2 mpg. I'm hoping the number will get better as I break in the vehicle.

I think that is about the same as the old V8, mine was 15/19. I did find that it performed and MPG improved quite a bit after about 10k miles. So I think you will be even happier after a few k miles.

That's about the same as well. MPG or KmPG is really all dependant on the vehicle. (AWD vs. 2WD), driving habits (grandma/grandpa or race car driver), the maintenance of the vehicle, roads (freeway, highway, traffic jam, stop&go) and sometimes the type of gas you use (regular vs. premium).

I can get about 17-18 on average. (AWD, bit of both driving habits, well maintained, mostly city driving, and premium gas) oh.. plus its snowing here.. so i'm guessing the AWD eats more gas.

I took a picture under the hood of the '05 V8. Sorry for the low light conditions.

don't worry, the mileage does get better...not much though. The last time I went on a 400 mile drive, I avg. 20mpg @ 70-75 mph
