The last payment was made at the bank on Friday. Later that day I hit 60k miles and I hope the next 60k are just as smooth. I'm so happy to not have that payment any more. :dancin:
Its now officially all MINE!

Someone told me that once a vehicle is paid off, car problems start to occur. Then you start paying repairs as if your making monthly car payments.

It's a great feeling isn't it? No more sharing ownership with the bank.

I paid mine off 1 year and 3 days after buying it in August this year.

As for things to go wrong........I feel teh same way. Paid off my wife's car this year too and have had to replace the brakes, it makes a wheel bearing squeal, ............ugh.

Congrats! Nice having no car payments!

I only have 5 more years...

Not generally if you have a toyota and his at 60k it's still pretty low miles.

I have 144k on mine and the only thing I've had to fix outside of normal maintenance was the rear axle seals at 100k which is almost normal maintenance on a 3rd gen. Mine also sees off road more than a few times a year and is still holding up very nicely.

It's ALWAYS a great feeling when there are no payments. Kudos.

I was fortunate when I bought the 2007 Sport V8 4X4... and had no payments from the git-go.

First time ever I bought a new car for cash.

However, I'm going back to buying barely used, low mileage 'used' vehicles again... too much depreciation in a new vehicle for my taste. ;):

Way to go! Just in time before you need to turn the heat up in the house. Old man winter is coming to Maine pretty soon.

11 more pmts for me!

When you think about it...by the time you pay it off its about 5-6 years down the road and quite a few miles. Wear and tear add up. Only big thing I can see coming is the XREAS shocks. The shroud around the upper part of the shock is starting to rot through. The base, and most important part, still looks good.
The engine and trans should be good for quite a while longer. Its maintenance stuff really....exhaust, brakes, fluid changes, ect that need to be done at this point. That maintenance is still cheaper than making payments. When its more expensive then making payments it will be time for a new vehicle.

Its a good feeling at this point especially in this economy. Looked at my 401k yesterday and it turned my stomach. I lost a LOT of value.

Already had it on a couple of times. Hope the price of fuel keeps going down with the stock market.

That person obviously doesnt drive a Toyota....
Paid mine off last year at about 60k too. Done nothing but oil changes and scheduled maintenance + brake pads and turned rotors at about 44k. Runs like clockwork, still looks new.

I am curious about X -Reas though. How do you tell if something is wearing? One thing I have noticed is that it is becoming increasingly bouncy on the highway, a bit of a pogo stick effect over bumps as well as side to side rocking on anything but completely smooth asphalt on calm days. Is this just normal wear and tear or what mod (different shocks?) can I do to make it more settled on the highway?

Congrats!

Depending on my bonus this year I may be able to pay off my '07 4Runner before Christmas this year. I was going to pay off a credit card and put the rest on the car, but the card is at 0%, so I'll probably just do it all on the car.

I would say that your shocks are shot. They should not be bouncing around a lot. That just means they are worn out. Time for new shocks.
