My 4Runner on Vacation

I just got back from my vacation in Florida and snapped a few shots of the 4runner while i was there.

We drove from Houston to Orlando to take advantage of all the Disney attractions and spent one day at daytona beach Florida. The drive took about 17 hour including pit stops to stretch our legs and lunch. One of the things that bothered me the most was how stiff the seat is how much it hurts after just 2 hours. Good thing i had an extra pillow to sit on or I'd go crazy. One thing i wish i had was the intelligent cruise control like the one on my Infiniti FX45. speed control at my finger tips is better then using the pedal on this long drive but it get annoying after a while because of other drivers slowing down and cutting in my lane. when i use the cruse control on my Infiniti i just steer and let the front sensor adjust my speed keeping the perfect distance front he car in front of me.

The best part was when i went to Daytona beach and i was one of the only guys able to drive through the soft sand. Everyone else stayed on the smooth sand and got stuck when they weren't paying attention.

Tapped up the car for the drive home because when i got to Florida the Bugs spattered on the front end was nasty and i had a few rock chips that i'm still pretty pissed about. I tried to tape up the car for the drive up there or even find one of those mesh covers but i was too busy with last minute things at work and getting ready for the trip.

Looks like it woulda been a fun trip in a even nicer ride to get you there!

Your 4Runner definitely stands out in place between those two minivans!

:p

The bugs I totally understand down there, but where did you get the rock chips? Just being flung up from other vehicles? I haven't had any issues with that yet on any of my trips, but then again, I don't go nearly as far as you did.

live the tire picture! its my background.
ps i think u should get a bra for those long trips and not use painters tape

Which lift are you running? That is one of the most perfectly level 4Runners I've ever seen. Do you have the back loaded up with gear in those pics, or does it always sit that way?

Or at least find some grey painter's tape:D

I wonder why painter's tape is always blue?

Use that washeable temp spray paint for the frontend;my friend did his 4th gen up with that and it worked pretty good and removes pretty easily after the trip.

Also I've seen back in the day some would PAM their frontend and while it would suck everybug to be stuck on your frontend you just pressure washed it off along with the bugs since they didn't stick.

The 1st two pics look great. Grab some more of the 4R in its native habitat....sand and dirt...pavement can get so boring...

I agree with you on the seats...our 96 runner (which is now past 200k) is the same way...I thought when I bought the 07 it would have improved...but that's ok...gives me an excuse to stop every couple of hours to stretch (and use a restroom)

The intelligent cruise control is great...my friend has it in his infinity and I totally agree w/ you. This is something Toyota should get with and install. But at least you can adjust the speed + and - by 1 mph. That

2 on the front bumper, 3 under the head light, and one on the hood scoop. I don't know how but i wasn't happy when i saw it.

I wanted to get one but i didn't have enough time or money because of work and the trip i took 2 weeks before florida. The tape was a last minute thing i did for the drive home. I went to San Fransisco for a few days to see my sister graduation from the academy of arts. It broke me in the financial department this month bad.

Daystar 2.5 inch lift. They aren't evry specific with the lift hight but i think the rear is 1.5 lift. The car was unloaded in the pics.

Thanks man.
I'm running Cooper STT 265/70/17
Its a 2005 sport edition that i bought pre-owned about a month and a half ago and had about 28,000 miles on it when i got it. I'm not sure how much it has on it now but i know i used up about 2,000 miles on this vacation.

It was bone stock when i got it and i've pretty much drop in almost all of my pay checks into it + some credit cards since day one. I'm almost content with this thing and just need some rims for the finishing touch. I'm not trying to do too much because i have to get back to concentrating on my main projects getting them ready for shows.

Would those Cooper STT's fit under a stock runner? Those things look awesome... How do they drive/handle?

I drove it stock hight for a few weeks without a lift kit and had no problems. Its a meatier tire then stock so it does have more road noise, the handleing was pretty much the same as stock, drops you're MPG about 2, and this tire has more layers/plies to it so it i did feel a little more bounce from the stiffness. All in all its a great tire.

Here's pics of the new tires before the lift kit. Just scrol to the bottom.

I think I like the look of those more than the BFG A/T's, what did you end up paying for them if you don't mind me asking?
