It was a chinese fail anyways. It worked during the day when I tested it, the dashboard lights did not dim when I turned the lights on....Early this morning turned the key on and my dashboard is blinding me as usual, turned on the park lights then the dashboard dimmed. (shakes head). Well its not coming out, just going to have to keep turning the parks on I guess.

I know it is impossible, but I always try to avoid Chinese products, even if costs double or triple. This is even more important when dealing with expensive stuff like cars, motorcycles, guns, etc. :bolt:

Your 2019 ORP should work the same as my 2018 ORP. Try this procedure and see if it works for you. Post# 55.

Thank You for the help ElectroBoy and Saker, turns out the sensor is working as it should. My mistake for thinking it would dim the dashboard if it was dark out and my lights were off. The instructions in post #55 were for the entune screen, which helps but will still have to turn the park lights on to dim the dashboard and entune screen if its dark out. Did not realize the sensor only helps control the dash and entune during bright daylight with the lights on.

Glad I didn't order the $85 sensor which still wouldn't have done what I thought it was supposed too.

I have a pre-20 sensor available

I bought the sensor for my 19 ORP but never installed. Now I have a 14 TEP which is apparently the year before they started running wires to the dummy plug. :crybaby:

If anyone with a pre-2020 model wants it, $15 shipped.

Apparently, I failed and didn't read enough of the tread to learn that I needed a different part for my '21 ORP.

So - I have the pre-2020 fitment purchased from eBay if someone wants one. HMU if you want the 89121-50020 for $15 shipped.

is the light sensor thing from the last few pages? just checked this forum out and read about it some. Does it just dim the dash display and head unit? Where is this installed at? thanks

You should read the first few pages at least, pictures are there with an explanation. The entire thread is about this mod only. The sensor is located in the center of the top of your dash. If its daytime and your lights are on, it will keep your dash lights and head unit in day mode, and allows your dash lights and head unit to darken at night with your lights on.

Had some rain yesterday after work and it was nice to have the dash lights not dim when turning the lights on for driving.

Found this, sounds like if you have a basic SR5 but have the upgraded stereo this might work. I have an 08 SR5 with Entune and it does have the wires.
I ordered the part and will have it Saturday. I will report back if it works.

I just completed this mod and I'm happy with the way it works in my 22 Sport. I got an 82191-30020 online for $62.50 including shipping from th-motors-jp. It took 5 days to get to me. The one thing I did that varied from the instructions was that I clipped the ears off the sensor so it will be easy to replace. It fit in pretty snug and hasn't moved. I found the instructions in post #55 helpful though my system didn't seem to work exactly the same as described I did manage to set things up with acceptable levels of brightness for both day and night. I did leave the day mode function on because I like the way it works.
