Just a little testing in the driveway, can't wait to get it all together and on the trail. Thoughts, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Nice. But there is no how to... Where are the b4 and during pictures?

Well I found YotaTech before I found T4R.ORG and did my build thread over there and I didn't want to do it all over again. I did put a link in my sig for those that want to venture over there to check it out.

Nice! I'm planning a sort of similar swap next year. Except I'm shooting for custom housings, 3link front and 4link rear. Still trying to hunt down a set of elocker 3rds.

Wow, very cool!!! E-locker axles too I'm assuming... Its gonna go anywhere!

What else is left for the conversion?

I wish they were e-lockers but no so lucky.

I need to pull the axle one more time for cleaning and painting, get all of the suspension bolts cut to length, finish painting the frame, modify the gas tank skid plate and put the axle back in. Also need to figure out shock length and limiting straps.

The next step will be the Land Cruiser transmission install which should prove to be interesting. I hope to have it running in 4WD this summer.

I see the panhard bar from the lc is different than our 3rd gens. Thats design make more sense than a straight bar. Nice wheels by the way

How do you figure? IMHO, putting a bend in a link makes it significantly weaker.

mmml4. I'm not trashing your design but i just think that links should be straight whenever possible. I'm sure there was a reason why you did it this way. :thumb3:

I agree that it is weaker but it will have a gusset before it goes offroad. I decided to put a bend in the panhard instead of making the bracket taller, I figured that the bent panhard with a gusset would be stronger/ better than adding 3" to the bracket. Not sure I could make a good argument in defense of that way of thinking but I guess we will see.

Also I welcome constructive criticism, it helps me a great deal to have better ideas.

I knew you had a reason. I'm interested to see how it holds up and i doubt you will have any issues. But i have seen where a side impact with a bent link made it bend easier. Either way. I admire your fab skills and my 97 will have a FJ80 axle with a 3 link under it in the near future as well. Expect a pm from me picking your brain once i am neck deep in it!

I wasnt even thinking that. Nice idea. I was thinking that the shape of that bar changes the geometry of things in motion. It seems like that would give just a bit more stability in the axel articulation because at least for a short range it keeps the axel in line slightly more than a straight panhard bar would. hmm, I might be incorrect in my thinking here . . . gonna have to draw it out

Forgive my ignorance....

But... where are the shocks?

Cool major mod and I'm really interested here. Got lots of LC axles in various states available where Im from.

I believe some jeeps use a bent trac bar like that. Seems strength may not be an issue. That way provides more clearance for the trac should you back into something.

Bilstein 10" 5150's will be here soon.

That is really nice  Love the LC axles and may have to atleast do this to the front of my runner one day.

I showed my dad where you cut the core support out of my old parts truck the other day. It was so clean he could barely tell where you cut.:thumb3: Btw, hope you got your sons 4runner back together.

I wish it were back together. I've got to get my 4runner so I can drive it back and forth to work so I can let my son drive my truck to school while we fix his 4runner. I enjoyed my trip to your place, it was a good day. Thanks again.

Bilstein update

Found out today that the Bilstein 5150 series has been discontinued so after current stock is sold there will be no more. Hope these last me a very long time.
