The metra kit is not hard to install at all. Depending on the fit of the face of the radio you might have to file the opening of the kit in order for the face of the radio not to bind when opening/closing.

The JBL system that is was in the truck will go back in. One of my goals was to be able to literally dop in the OEM components when I sell it. That is why all wire harneses are intact and still present.

Funny thing is I never saw your setup before i did mine and had all the components already frin my 2005 Nissan Frontier. This just proves...great minds think alike

How did you get the antenna to mount up on top of the spoiler like that? I don't see any wires, and it looks pretty slick... going to try the same thing myself. I'll be doing an antenna for the GPS as well as my sirius, and I was considering trying to run them up through the sunroof and putting them right in front of or behind the sunroof opening... any reason you picked on top of the spoiler?

I picked the top of the spoiler because to be honest it was easy. It also at a high open point on the back of the truck...no obstructions. I did not want to have a wire running through a door jam or under window molding. I have had cell phone antennas in spoilers back in the day so it was a logical space. It is hardly even noticeable.
I started off by marking as close as I could dead center with painter tape. I did this while the spoiler was on the truck. Once this was done I remove the spoiler.
From there, it is pretty simple. Drill a hole and run the wire through the spoiler, through the OEM wire boot that connects to the truck. Run the wire from there to where ever it needs to go.
It is a plastic spoiler so drilling is pretty easy. Just member once you drill the hole there is no going back. The spoiler is hollow so following the wire down is easy. The antenna is held on by 3M adhesive.
If you do both antennas I would consider putting the first offset that way both are in the center. I had intended on painting the antenna silver but never got around to it. XM will be in the vehicle until I sell it. I will replace all the aftermarket stuff with OEM and leave the antenna.

That is a tough one. For the custom work that is done and the multiple components I would say $600 - $800
I added it up and that is what the shop I used to work at would have charged. and that was 15 years ago.
There is a lot of stuff that was done and attention to detail that is not in the pics.

thank you for the info. I just found a website called macvroom.com which shows macmini installs in cars with a touch screen in the double din display. it seems about the same price as a good double din head unit w/ nav. It would be cool if I can make all this happen. Thanks again!

How do you find the tweeter's ? I installed MB Quart in my 4runner and find the high's are to much. In general I'm not really happy with the overall sound. I have 6 1/2 in all four doors and the tweeters in the font's. I am powering it with a MB Quart 5 channel AMP. DNX7100 is the headunit... Any thoughts on how I can tone this down ?
btw, using the MB crossover that came with the speaker kit.

MB Quarts tweeters have always been pretty brassy and loud. See if the passive crossover that the speakers came with has a switch that ca control the db gain of the tweeters. I know they used to have them but that was several years ago.
Otherwise you I hate to tell you that is the way that they are. Quarts have pretty good midrange and midbass but have always had loud highs. You might be able to add an electronic crossover or EQ that has the ability to control the gain of those high frequencies; i.e. Audio Control EQS

Great job. I have a couple of questions, when you drilled the hole for the antenna did you seal the hole? Also did you remove the light before you drilled?
Thanks again for the great idea. I had mine on the top in the back and this winter I opened the back door and ice on the top wrecked my antenna. And since I don't plan to move I had thought of doing this very thing but need to see it done to know it was for me.

I sealed the hole with silicon and then the 3M trim tape that I used to attached the antenna to the the spoiler.

The rear tweeters were mounted in the top of the speaker hole in the door. I attached it to the door panel itself. I soldered a molex plug so when the door panel is removed, you can unplug the tweeter.
Essentially it is at the top of the of the speaker hole in the door panel. It is pointing up through the grill in the door.
