My black headlight mod.

After seeing all these cool 4runners and their headlight mods, I decided to give it a shot.

Used an oven, heatgun and plastic adhering satin black paint.

1. Baked in oven for 10min at 200 degrees and pulled apart with my hands.

2. Painted the chrome areas around the lights not around the bulbs.

3. Put painted section in oven for 8min at 200 degree

4. Let sit for 15min and reassemble.

5. Put both pieces together dry and put back in oven for 10min at 200 degrees

6. Squeeze pieces back together and Enjoy the oohh and aahh's

All done, black on black!

Those look great, nice job! Now get some nicer high beam bulbs to really set off the look (I like my Höen ones a lot).

It really isn't hard, just takes patience. The hardest parts were getting the crazy bolt off/on that's under the inner fender well and reassembling without touching any of the urethan glue. All I can say is take your time, took me around 4hrs and I was being careful.

Good job man! I just did this last week on my '05 too. The hardest part for me was putting the newly painted plastic piece back in the lens section without scratching the paint. I finally got it though! It really is as easy as you make it out to be though!

Where's a pic? Yup to counter that I added a step to bake the freshly painted lens in the oven for 8min.

Nope, but I did make sure I removed everything possible before I baked it .

have y'all seen anybody do this but paint the housing white, ive been searching with no success. I have a white limited and think it might look good to keep a congruent color + a satoshi with white letters.

(im storm trooping this thing out.. white everything, black rims, tails, and windows)

Same process different paint. Do it man, it would look pretty cool
