My Booty gets hot!!!! What gives?

I have recently noticed that on my '99 4Runner (V6, 4x4, 137K) when the back seats are folded down and I am driving long distances my butt gets WAY hot! There is a ton of heat coming from the center counsel, and the back seat floor board. Any ideas? Everything runs perfect, I have noticed NO other problems at all. Just a hot booty!

I am an idiot. I just went out there and flipped the back seats up and sure enough the rear heat is on full blast!

Keep this in mind, I live in Phoenix, where it's been over 100 for the past week. It was like sitting in the seventh circle of hell when driving that car!

I'm glad you guys enjoy! Two weekends ago I took the 4Runner up to northern Arizona and it I was dieing on the way up there from the heat. However, when I got up there it was about 50 degrees with 45mph winds, so it was kind of nice to have the toasty seat. Then on the ride home from that trip I was rather thankful to have it hot because I spent all weekend freezing said BOOTY off!

But this last weekend, I had to drive the toaster up to northern arizona again and it was FREAKING HOT OUT! I had a mountain bike race, and then had to cook the biscuits all the way home. I had a buddy with me, and he thought it might be friction heat from my tranny, so I was scared. But I figured as hot as my ba'dunk-a-dunk was, if it was friction heat the whole damn thing would have exploded.

I am so glad to hear that I am just an idiot...being an idiot is free, a bad tranny is expensive!

I wish mine had rear heat. In the winter since there aren't any vents under the front seats like most cars the back end of the truck is freezing while the fornt people are sweating.

yes the heat was on...I identified myself as an idiot towards the top of this post. Ever since then it has been mostly a lot of laughs pointed in my directions. Enjoy the roast (get it roast...I kill me).

good to know that was the only problem!

When I first got my 4Runner last summer I had left the heat on full blast and I heard it as I was going down the road and I thought a window got busted out or a hole somewhere in the runner cause of all the air rushing out!
