My brakes are squeaking

I've noticed this lately. My truck has 15k on it. Only squeaks with light pressure when slowing down. When I get on them hard the squeak goes away.

I have to try to check if its the fronts or rears, cant really tell as of yet.

I have 20k on mine, and they have been squeeking also. I noticed it mostly in the early morning or right after it rains. I was assuming, it is problaly moisture on the pads from the rain and ealy morning dampness. Took it in to be looked at by the stealer, he said they are like new. I already had the had them fixed twice. They resurfaced the rotars, and replaced them another time under warranty(didn't want to resurface them again).

with those reporting squeaky breaks, what are your patterns of breaking? Agressive, moderative, lots of stop and go traffic, wife breaking?? Not that these are the direct cause and effect of break squeal, as it may be mechanical, but its probably the oporator interface that causes the sqeal.

THe resolution usually requires cutting the brake rotors to make them spin accordingly to how the axle interfaces with the hub. (new break pads need not apply.) anyways, i'm buzzed here, so i'm just posting the first thought to come to mind. If others have solutions, please address.

My braking is aggressive , stop & go.

last night it was happening with it being wet out , but like I said only with light braking pressure when I pushed the pedal a little harder it was gone.

They also were salting the hell out of the roads last night and they were very wet.

Today , nothing as far as noise.

I'll have to keep an eye on it

My brakes started squeeling at about 25K, i took it to the dealer for a oil change and told them about the brakes. They said that sometimes the breakdust builds up in there and all you have to do is put the car in reverse get going a little bit and hit the brakes and the forward. They said they would take care of it. When I got my truck back it was like new and they said brakes are stil on good shape. I would recommend doing the same, maybe a few times and maybe take some compressed air with the straw and try to get in there and dust it off.

I am with you on this one, I have just over 15k and I am getting that same squeaking... It only happens when I am slowing down from 30 or 20 mph down to 10 or slower, but not a complete stop. So I am applying light application to the brakes. I just ignore it or turn the radio up, the noise eventually goes away. I know the pads and the rotors are good, I just checked them.

What is happening is that through light braking you are actually wearing away the material transfer between the rotor and the pad and eventually getting spots where there is none and that is why with light braking you get the squeel but when you press down hard enough you actually start to press the pad on the rotor face.

I have delt with this on many cars, including those with higher metalic content pads than we use with the 4runner (ceramic pads) who squeel a hella more than the 4ruuner.

Going to the dealer this week to have it all checked out. 15K service...
just a little over due..

22K on mine and they squeek. Took it to two different dealers and they both said everything is fine. squeel is getting annoying. I am not an aggressive driver.
