I took the plunge and ordered 4 Revos from Walmart..I live in a tiny town in PA on the NY border. Walmart quotes me 150 a tire plus mounting, balancing and tax...so 3 weeks ago I go ahead and place the order...1 1/2 weeks ago I get a call saying they dont have 265/75/17...I said I ordered 265/70/17's! They say oops..sorry no prob...I get a call today they are in...I drive home head to walmart and wait for an hour...I get called up too the tire desk and they say we have a problem we cant mount your tires as they have an air pressure sensor....they said if they break them they dont want to be responsible...so we make a few calls and no one will install them....finally the local toyota dealer agrees to mount them on this saturday BUT NO ONE will give me a road hazard/balance/rotation warranty!! Toyota only had 2 tires for sale..the Dunflop I already have and a crappy other tire...UGH...I will try to see if Toyota will at least let me pay for a lifetime rotation and balancing but they initially said NO because I did not purchase the tires from them! ALSO walmart said they could NOT change my oil (too cold here for myself right now) BECAUSE they do not have the right oil filter for a 2008 HIGHLANDER...I told them it was a 4RUNNER....and they handed me the book and I found it in less than 2 seconds...needless to say I left without them doing anything and I will have the local dealer do everything!

Regarding the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), I don't recall reading about anyone else being told that they wouldn't mount the tires due to the system. I HAVE heard of the sensors being damaged in the process though. Take it to Costco or Discount Tire. Might require a drive, but might be worthwhile in the long run.

I hate Walmart for everything they stand for and how they run their business. Stuff like above only fuels my hatred towards them. Hope they realize that all cars from 07-08 on require TPMS, so they will have to deal with it eventually. :bash:

This was where I think Costco started their slide down a slippery slope. Now look at what they've done with their return policy on electronics. Before we know it, I bet returns will only be for in-store credit. Then who knows what's next...
Anyway, I ended up at Discount Tire, and not only did they beat Costco's price (with the road hazard included), they bought back (at FULL price) their 4-month old, crappy, undersized in-house brand highway tires that the previous owner put on before selling the truck! I got the BFGs for just over $200!!! :awais: :bigok:
Talk about earning my business back in a big way!

There is no Costco right near me, so I use Sam's club. I know, I know, its just another Walmart. But, they had no problem with the TPMS (tech. mentioned they got some training on them), charged $10 per corner for mount and balance, and I get free rotations every 5k miles until the tire "expires" in 50k miles. I got out of there with 4 BF long trail T/A's for about $600 with everything like tax and mounting, env. charge, etc. Very happy with the service so far.

I've heard Costco will mount a different size tire as long as it's off the car. So the wheels have to be brought in loose. I've taken the wheels by themselves in (didn't change tire size though). The Costco near me has this stupid monkey looking like f* that chirps the tires and tries to redline the engine every two feet he gets while moving your car. Unfortunately, this isn't option if only have one car.

I got my BFG's from NTB. A bit more on the front end, but they have a "special" checklist involved for vehicles equipped with TPMS which basically involves them avoiding using bead breakers around the stem and allowing for some extra caution. No worries about upsizing either. They said don't go any bigger than 1 size up or I would have problems with a stock vehicle. Typically I avoid Walmart for any service related things.

I don't understand why these places are making such a big deal out of TPMS sensors, especially going so far as to charge extra somtimes! If anything, I prefer changing a tire on a wheel with TPMS rather than a regular valve stem. Process is simple really. Let air out of tire like you would do with either system; undue nut on top of TPMS valve stem; let sensor fell into tire; continue to break down the tire from wheel. I swear, these places are giving me a bigger excuse everyday to want to open up my own tire and wheel shop.

When I ordered and had my 265/70-17 Revos put on my truck through Costco, they stated that WAS the stock size and didnt have one problem with them putting them on. I have had to take it back to them numerous times for nails and screws in the tire, with no questions.
If they give me any grief when I replace them with the same size this fall, I can always bring it up that that is the size they ordered and their computer showed should be on it.
I love Costco!
By the way, the tire tech at my Costco (Fair Oaks near HD off of west ox rd in Fairfax, VA) stated that they have a new torgue wrench to make sure the valve stems of the TPS's are seated correctly. It measures like in the .05 in/lbs! Friggin crazy! My one was soooo loose I swear the valve stem was ready to come off! Also, they aired the tires to 38psi upon my request, and put the wheel weights on the inside without any issues.

TPMS and Firestone
Since this has become a bit of a TPMS discussion I will post here. A couple of weeks ago I had posted this to an old TPMS thread over in Problems and Warranty but got no responses.
I took my spare tire to the Firestone dealer the other week for repair since it had gone flat while I was out in the desert. I have used the place before, once to repair a stock tire from this truck and again to replace all 5 tires with Revos.
This latest time they replaced the tire because of a sidewall cut. Now my TPM light won't go off. I know that the TPM was working even after this latest flat because I filled the bad tire from my CO2 tank and it held air long enough for me to get to a blacktop road and swap it with the spare and the TPM light was out for this interval.
The Firestone place has played around and claim that all 5 TPM sensors are working and that I will have to take it to the Toyota dealer because the problem is beyond them.
What do people think. Did the Firestone dealer break my sensor and they either don't know or are jerking my chain or is there possibly some other problem beyond their ability?

There is a guy here who ( my town ) that has advertised new Revos a few times on the internet pretty cheap , like brand new never mounted sets for $400.00.
I've emailed him a few times , don't know where he gets them from and didn't ask......lol , but didn't have any my size. 265/70/17 he said he'll let me know if he runs across a set in that size. Hmmmmm....... suspicious , but he runs across a set brand new never mounted I'll def. take them. I really want to go to a different tire to try , but hey..... who knows .

I went to costco the other day... and was asking about tires. They only had michellin though... I asked about the at2s and cross terrains (which I have now), the guy had no issue quoting me 265/70/17's, but informed me he couldn't mount it unless I had a lift, which I'm getting, and he also said it changes your speedometer and all that other jazz.
