My catalytic converter theft- add me to the list =(

long beach 4runners look out for a grey silverish scion xb with broken rear window.
theif was mexican bigger than average on weight, never seen the driver

Okay ultimatly my cat got stolen in front of my house this morning...
they used a cordless sawzall done in 20 seconds or less

for anybody who cares heres the story...

i live in a good neiborhood, never thought i would have to think about my cat getting jacked but knew how easy it was

i park right in front of my door in the street.

about 6:50 this morning i hear what sounds like a edger for lawns but louder, so i kind of ignore it because i am still asleep
next i hear my mom hell out "someones under jakes car stealing something!"
as soon as i heard that i had no doubt in my mind it was my cat'
at that time my dad ( 43, welder not scared of a single thing) runs out barefoot in shorts ( surfer).
at this time the guy is almost back in his scion with the cat ( parked directly in front of me) my dad running yells out "your a ****ing dead man"
the guy gets back in the car with his driver and my dad jumps on the back bumper holding the roof
he swings once (with his hand that has been broke since he was 19) at the rear window and it dident brake so then he lifted his leg real high and kicked it in ( remember hes barefoot) at this time the guy is about to peal out into the main street so my dad jumps off and tumbles.
he now has gashes that require stitches but he refused to go with the paremedics.
where was i? i made it out there as soon as they were peeling out on the main street so i was no help sadly

i filed a report with the cops, they said 3 4runners on my same street a couple blocks away got hit also and there has been alot of this around here but this is the only one that almost got caught and beat to death. (yes if my dad got him on the floor he would be dead or paralized ) no exaduration.

this is a horrible feeling
i feel they want revenge and will come back with a big rock and drive by and hit one of our cars and break our windows. or something like that.
after all everyone in this house has a toyota with high ground clearance

My suggestion if this is all true,

Buy yourself a cheap night camera/monitor combo and start recording. Get their license plates and what they look like. Set it up near the road.

Basically, they just take a picture of anything that moves in the direction they are pointed.

If I were your Dad though, I'm not sure I would have tried to stop them bare handed. Those guys could have easily been armed and this situation could have turned out much differently. Give your Dad a hug and thank him for getting your back.

this is not the first time hes got my back

heres a quick story of one i will always remember..
i was about 11 years old with a couple friends skateboarding on my corner when 3 asian dudes in a ricer honda came up one jumped out and took my brand new skateboard
i came crying to my dad about 5 min later, all he said " get in the ****ing car"
we drove for about 5 min and found the guy on a main street, my dad drifted this wagon we had and stopped all traffic in front of the guy blocking him from going anywhere jumped out broke the rear window in where the guy was sitting and yelled "give me the ****ing skateboard" and pulled the guy by his neck until he handed it over, the guy literally pissed his pants and started crying then my dad let him go
trust me it was epic

thanks. mentioning this.. the past couple of months i had been meaning to tell my dad we should fab something up under there to prevent it.
i never told him though not even a word of it... i was thinking it wouldent happen in my area.
he never knew people stole cats, he thought he was taking my magnaflow

forgot to mention my dad managed to rip off the license plate frame in a attempt to get the plate.
it reads " Kids automotive, auto repair & performance"
they have 2 locations near me, i called to see if they have a list of cars they sold/worked on and was told to call back tuesday,
also they used a beefy razor blade to cut the rubber things that hold the pipes up.
they left it under my truck and the cops took it for eveidence/prints

Epic win in that case.

However, seems like a good way to get shot. In Cali you can only get shot 11 times, however.

yeah its not the fact i dont have a cat anymore, its just how it was done and happened/outcome.
i havent called my insurance, as far as i know my deductable is $500
ive never had to go through the process with insurance , i dont know if i should bring them in on it.
does anyone have suggestions?

It's the feeling of being victimized that gets me. No, I still have my cat but had an incident happen in my yard about two months ago that made everyone here lock-n-load. Scared the poop outta my wife and kids and especially outta the idiot that was downrange of my handgun. He's since moved back to Illinois:trophy:

being victimized feels horrible, i still remember when my house got robbed when i was in 5th grade.

Did your dad not get their plate number? Glad they got their window smashed, but a simple plate number would put them in jail.

When I was in college, a couple of teenagers would come through the townhouse complex my roommates and I lived in one night a week an bust out a window with a rock. We camped out in the woods every night, and on the 3rd night they came through. Tossed half a cinder block through the back window of my Land Rover and took off. We got a plate number...

But not before we all let loose our own rocks at the car. My buddies sailed right through the back passenger window. We called the police and gave them the plate number, description, and said "it will have a few dents on the right side".

Cops called three weeks later, each of the three boys had gotten part time jobs to pay for every window they broke (9 total) after which their 100 hour community service sentence started.
