My first 4Runner: 2003 with 227K miles!

Hello everyone from Salt Lake City, UT.

I have recently purchased my first 4Runner, it is a 2003 (despite my username) V8 limited. And yes it has 227,000 miles on it. It is a one owner, who was religious about his maintenance, I have all the logs. I was not interested originally when visiting the dealer because of the mileage. But once I took it on a test drive I realized this thing drove like new! I have already taken it on a couple of trips, and it drives amazing! Not too bad of an off-roader either of course.

Anyways, happy to be a part of this forum. I am here hoping my toyota will last for another 100k+ miles! I'll let you know.

How many miles, considering how well its been taken care of, would you say I could expect to get out of a 03 4Runner? Thanks!

A well maintained 4.7 should make 350,000+ miles, or so I hope since I have one too...

Well, I guess we're gonna find out sooner or later whether or not we can reach 350K+ miles…how many miles you have on it currently Willk?

Also, I'm getting roughly 17.5 mpg mix driving, how does that compare to others?

I'm at 332K miles now. Apparently I will be needing to replace the head gaskets (supposedly it's leaking a bit of coolant, though not in the cylinders. I'm still trying to figure out of I really do have a problem with the gaskets, or if it's something else) and the transfer case gasket to a tune of almost 3k bucks. I'm a bit upset about that, but it's an old car and I payed cheap for it. Anyone else have had these problems with their V8?

Had a reputable shop in Salt Lake double check the 4Runner and they found no coolant leak. Only a very minor transfer case leak, nothing to worry about for now. So all is well with the vehicle, even at 332K miles! Definitely enjoying my first Toyota!

Lol, yes thats how I felt too 3 months later. But I did go on 2 road trips in that time frame.

You did in 3 months what took my 4Runner 12 years. Did you do the t-belt?

Edit, you corrected that to 232! That makes much more sense

Welcome to the forum, make sure you change the T belt every 100k.
