My First 4Runner!

He was a BMW fan i guess. I left it on because my dad was looking into an M5 recently and kind of lost the chance so i wanted to bust his balls a little. I can take some photos today of the rusting.... it was "rust proofed" a while ago so the coating is peeling off and you can see some rust underneath. Working on taking the running boards and flares off.

Made an appointment on the 30th to drain all fluids.

Clutch
Radiator
Diff
Tranny

Going to do the oil and brakes myself.

Power steering looked fine...?

While they have it up on the lift they can take a better look at the rust. Its mainly the rear. There is some on the gas tank pan as well. Spare wheel looks fine. Frame looks fine. I think the heater hose located in the passenger front wheel well is rusting? Any idea how much that might run me? Next big thing is timing belt and water pump... some have said replace the radiator now...

74k miles? Sounds a little suspicious to me. Hard to find a 3rd gen under 150k miles these days. At least in my area.

Took the flares and running boards off... everything looks pretty clean just one spot in front of the rear passenger wheel on the bottom where the running board held debris to the paint. Its repairable and sorry for not taking pictures had a busy day today. Maybe after a nice wash buff and wax Ill get some new pictures :)

Uh yeah. Starting to doubt that you actually own one ;)

lol yea yea...

Just ordered plugs and wires.... looking into drop in filter and exhaust.

Going from my s2k to this.... holy GAS batman. Thought i had prepared myself.

Just to document my findings on the filter/exhaust.... looks like its a toss up. It may increase mileage but for the cost... is it worth it? probably not. So I am just going to leave that stock for now I guess.

This 4runner has 265/70-16's on it. I realize I am not winning any races with this thing but if I wanted to go up to a 33" tire and some aftermarket wheels I know this is going to increase weight. From what I have read on here my truck has stock 4.56 gears. Apparently the 4.56 is fine for the 33" tires.... I guess I can make that decision when I put everything on and see for myself whether i want the 4.88's or not. Haven't researched the cost of new gears yet.

Also I see there is some kind of line behind the front passenger side wheel. It looks like it is rusting a bit. What is this line for?

Did a little more work today... took the brush gaurd off as well as the hitch. I don't tow anything usaully so maybe what i dropped in weight ill gain in gas! lol

Also removed the roof rack and did some cleaning... going to leave the 3 cross members in the back of the truck until i need them because they trap water pretty good.
