My First 4Runner

Wow. I just passed on a low mileage 2002 1 owner for $8200 because I thought it needed to be closer to $7500. Your 4Runner is nice and in the end it's worth what you are willing to pay. Enjoy.

Then you must have got them down to what, 8k purchase price? That seems about right but then they tack on a 500 BS dealership fee. And since it's not a private sale, there's no leeway with the documented purchase price if you get my drift.

Every once an while a sub 100K miler will pop up on CL for less than 8k but you basically have to live next door to the person to get it in time.

You nailed it! I got it down to around 8k but like you said there's so many unnecessary taxes and fees that are added on to raise the price. When it's time to purchase a new car I'll definitly be going through a private seller just so I won't have to deal with useless taxes again

If you haven't already bought tires, I have 265/75/16's and Im going to upside to a 285/75/16. It is a bigger tire and it looks a little more aggressive without having to add lift or having to avoid rub!

Thanks! So 285/75/16s won't rub on a stock suspension?

The rear won't rub, at least with stock rims. The front will touch the front bumper a little on turns and it will hit the pinch weld and the plastic on the other side of the wheel well. You just have to clean it up a little with a grinder or your preferred method. I'm going to be running general grabbers here soon so I will be going through this.

I also just bought a 4Runner...this is my 3rd one....the last one...should be say...has one door not dented. It worked out because now I have a Gen 3 and it is much easier to mod and a better motor.

I found this site after buying mine. I am going to document everything I do to this rig and hopefully it will help someone else in the future. I am not going to do a "build" thread because my build fund is not huge...and I am expecting it to take probably two years to get where I want it.

I have a list of Mods and changes, and will just start working on them as they go. The good thing about this site is a lot of people have already done things you can gain the pro's and con's from. So far it has taken some searching and gleaning real knowlege from the information available.

Enjoy one awesome rig and the information and help on this site.

Right on dude. That's still a build. Mines going a little slower than I like but, this hobby isn't cheap. Let us know how it goes brother!

Thank you! Yeah this site is amazing and all the information is sometimes overwhelming but i'd much rather have that then no info at all! I look forward to seeing your rig!

Yeah i bought a new set of 265/75/16 duratracs. I haven't taken them off-roading too much yet, but so far i'm loving them. I also threw in a new radiator.
