My first "Car in the Ditch"

Today, on a back road I came up on a car in the ditch. It was an Jetta and the owner went to pull over to park on the road to go X-County Skiing when he realized that the side of the road was not flat it was too late. There were a ton of people there trying to push him with no luck as they could only move him back and forth in the ditch.

I pulled out my 7000 Lbs tow strap and in 2 seconds I had him on his way. I was suprised as when I hooked up I just put the truck in reverse and let her roll. No throttle at all and I just let the torque talk and it was all over with. Effortless.

The whole process took 2 Mins. Thye had been trying for quite some time before me with no luck.

I can't figure out though if I did it because I like helping people or I just love to play. My wife thinks I'm crazy because I get excited when I see a car in the ditch. She will never understand.

Sounds like great fun! What did you hook your tow strap to? One of those loops hooked to the frame under the front? I've only had my 4r for a couple of months and earlier today looked underneath for the tow hooks - no tow hooks, but saw these metal loops that looked like they could be used for towing...

I hooked up to the loops you are refering to. I guess that is what they are there for. They look pretty beefy to me. I prefer to hook to the front anyway and pull backwards because I can see what is going on.

I asked the driver to be in neutral and just steer and the V8 just idled along pulling him right up and out. No drama just kudos.

I love this truck.

Cool! Thanks for the info! Sounds like hella torque in reverse! I love my truck too. In fact, I love all the Toyotas I've owned.
