my first classic 1987 4runner

ok, some of you know i got this last week, but i have been really busy. anyways here goes. its a 1987, sr5 4x4 5 speed. 160k miles, clean all around. no rust, and 2 dings. now for the nitty gritty, i paid 4900 for this toy, with the rims, and just excellent shape i feel its worth it. let me know what you all think, i also have a soft top on the way for summer.

Nice set-up.
What size tires are those?

the tires are 33" on a 15" rim. i will have to look for a more exact answer. i also ordered the lower valance for the front, which is black but i think it will look ok in black.

Definately let me know the width,...10.50, 12.50 or whatever.
Is there any lift on it? front or rear? Do you get any rubbing? turning at full lock, fully compressed, combo of the two, etc.?

I am running 30's right now, but hope to have 33x10.50s soon. With my ~2" of lift, I hope not to have any rubbing problems.

hello. i would guess from looking and parking the 1987 beside my 2000 which i put a 3 inch lift on that they both have a 3 inch lift. now i did the 2000 lift kit myself, but the 1987 came with it. as far as handling i have no problems. the wheels on my newer one are bigger then the ones on this one. neither have rubbed or affected preformance. actually last weekend i went to dallas, and let a friend drive it. now he owns a new honda accord, and said he thought my 4runner handled better then his car. some people on here say that a lift kit makes the ride rougher, or a little less controlable. so going into the lift kit i knew that. but as to date i have had no problems. i do have some advice if you want it. the rear is easy to do, i would recomend jegs.com for your new rear shocks, they always have skyjackers for 30 bucks on sale. now the front is easy but i would have a garage compress the springs for you and put the spacers in. that would save alot of time and a headache. i have re torqued the nuts and bolts but all were tight after 200, and 400 miles, and i love the added height. i will post a pic as well. hope this helps.
