What does everyone think? (photo is from my phone, so quality is not great)

The exhaust tip was an impulse buy from Walmart. It is actually quite a nice item.

Here's a link to a website selling the identical item for almost twice what I paid at Walmart.

I hope it's stainless, or it rust real quick. I had the stealer put it on as a signing bonus!

It is stainless.

Here's a photo of the tip:

I have that tip on my Taco, the black area will rust. Sorry Buddy! You can return it and get the ALL stainless (even the strap clamp, no bolts) from the sealer. It's about $40.

That's the one! I've learned that what ever you are planning to buy or do to your 4Runner, you will get GREAT advice from this site. So post your ideas here first, at least you will get all the pros and cons to help you decide.

Are you suggesting I replace it with the Valor tip?

I agree with all the posts advising you to get the Valor tip. I took mine off a 2004 SR5 before I traded it in after 1 1/2 years of use and it still looked almost exactly as the picture you posted. I live in area where they put mucho salt on the roads in the winter too.

The Valor tip uses a stainless ring that is tightened by one stainless bolt - the bolt goes on the driver's side of the tailpipe and is completely hidden. Looks welded, but it can be removed!

what is the purpose of this (exhaust tip)?

I would buy it if it makes the sound louder.

Strictly cosmetic, but gives a nice appearance for the life of the vehicle. Only get it if you have no plans to put on an aftermarket cat-back system. Stays away from weld-on tips, the real good ones are a little pricy and you may see the weld rust (even stainless). The Valor tip does not compromise the integrity of OEM system in any way. Also the polished stainless strap clamp is the cleanest look on any tip. A must have!
