Hey guys i just bought a 91 4x4 3.0 automatic with 151,000 on it i test drove it check oil cap ran just fine in town the freeway almost 20 mi away test it on so i could test to see how it did at high speeds so went with my gut that it was a good buy the owner told me it had never overheated on him so i bought it but as soon as i got to a freeway i notice a lack of power in between 40 and 65 i didn't think much of it but as soon as i got to a big hill it started bogging down i pressed the gas down to kick in the O/D and it revved up but no power it kept slowing down and then i noticed the temp was rising so i turned on the heater full blast the temp gauge started to almost touch red and i pulled over turned it off waited about 20mins and then kept going up the hill around 5-10mph mind u i have 2 more big hills to go up before i get home as soon as i reach the top and start to go down the temp immediately starts to drop until it got back to normal when i got to town which is level ground it ran fine temp ok but still not very much power.im not sure if is the motor or tranny or both? im kind chapped about it but If anyone has any ideas or thoughts of to where i should start please show me the way.
