My first thread: Avoiding scratches by the ignition keys

Have you guys done anything by the ignition key hole in the steering column to avoid scratches by the key?? I don't have any yet, reference image is from YouTube but my 3rd gen had so many of these scratches so trying to see how to avoid them

mine make me look like an alcoholic, i'm just going to put some black vinyl over it

i don't know what it is about the vehicle, i guess the angle of the tumbler and the softness of the plastic, but i've never had this problem on other vehicles

Use your index finger to guide the key, just like in the bedroom.

I think I normally put keys right in the keyhole, maybe be scratch metal around keyhole. Honestly I never looked at the scratches around ignition, but if there are any scratches I wouldn't be upset too much, it's not highly visible anyway. If I worried about it I would put nicely cut black electrical type around it : )

that's one thing I liked about my Ford..it had a collar around the key hole that made it easy to guide the key in..

Yeah, mine has a few scratches. I found a guy selling the trim pieces for what he said was cheap, he said $100 for the pair so I decided to just live with it lol

I had my scratched up from brand new. Some one test drove it before me. Not a deal breaker to me. Plastic scratches easily.

Helps to look at what you're doing. There is a reason why our ignition has a glowing ring around it.

Same, it helps that it's on the far side of the steering column so I don't see it much
