My Gas Milage is AWESOME!!!!!

In light of recent threads about Bad MPG's i figured i would make one to lighten everyones spirits. :D I would like to say on a recent trip to school i scored 23mpg for 200 miles. And i generally do 18-20mpg in normal town driving. So have fun with sh*tty fuel economy!

Ha, got ya beat! Maybe it's the red. But I got 23.4 over a 1200 mile trip from Philly to KC in the '96 I bought to resell. That thing drove smooth as ice and the fuel economy was awesome to see.
 
My ultragauge shows I'm getting 20.6mpg. I haven't calibrated it so I have no idea if it's an accurate measure. If somebody has an UG and reads this, do you have to calibrate it to get the mpg's or can it determine the fuel usage in another way?
 
After a bunch of research, I started using a product called Marvel Mystery Oil. I was very skeptical about the claims/benefits but after dropping $8-$9 bucks a can on Seafoam, I thought it was worth a try at $3.00 bucks a bottle (enough to treat two tank fulls of gas in a 2000 T4R). I also switched to no-ethanol gas that we have now available in the Montgomery area. AFTER ONE MONTH OF USE, my engine runs better, my gas mileage has gone up an average of 2.8 miles per gallon (I track every single fill-up) and the only thing I have done is tried this stuff. I love my T4R (now with 180K on the odometer) so trying this was a big decision. IT WAS WORTH IT!!!

I wish you would have used one or the other, not both at the same time. We don't know which caused the biggest gain.

I used Marvel Mystery Oil a few times right after I got my 4Runner. Might have to give it a shot again.

That is likely 100% due to the ethanol free fuel. Controlled test would have shown your gains, but you added 2 variables at the same time, so your findings are useless. Keep using the ethanol free fuel for as long as it's available though, it's tough to find around here unless you buy premium.
 
Well i'm headed up on a mini road trip up north tomorrow, and I'm expecting to see high 20s to low 30mpg ...

yep leaving the 4runner at home and driving the Scion :)

I disagree the findings are useless. Clearly two things were done and one or both of them contributed to the gains. Simple: try one or both and see which one delivers the best results. As far as a "controlled test" goes, how many people do you know who have the ability (not to mention the desire) to do that? Give me a break. I'll take the day-to-day driving experience over a "controlled test" every time. Since it is clearly an itch though, go spend $3 bucks at WalMart for some Marvel Mystery Oil, do your "controlled test" and enlighten us with your findings.
 
This conversation is only for those running the stock engine (or close to it).

So take your jet engine and make like a tree.
 
i got like 320 miles to my last tank................................................. on my honda civic..
 
I got 326 miles on my tank once before my gas light came on, and that was with my 285/75/16 KM2s. All highway, cruise control at 67MPH. :D

sounds like me. I can push 350'ish miles on a tank. that would be mostly highway to and from work with cruise on at 65.

fixin to head up to the mountains for the annual MAN trip. runner will be loaded with mtn bikes on top and out back plus all our gear. i know my mpgs will suffer but curious to see what sort of drop i will get.
