My gas mileage stats..

My 4R has put 32K miles and decided to do a gas mileage calculation. Mine is 2003 V8 model with RWD.

I got 20.53 miles/gal with manual calculation and in build computer shows 22.4 to 22.7.

85% of driving is in highway with 34PSI on all wheels with 50% of the time A/C on. I also noticed something interesting - whenever I drive at 70 and above speed, computer shows 22.4. When I drove between 60-70 mph, it shows 22.6 - 22.7!.

How does others fair with gas mileage?.

I drove 2200 miles last week and my computer showed 21.8 at the end of the trip. 75% of the time i was doing 80+ mph with the a/c on low to medium fan setting with temp set on LO.

During the first part of the trip, I had the cruise set on 70 and the computer was showing 26.5MPG for several hundred miles. I got tired of that and cranked her up to 80 and the mileage dropped to 23. I picked it up to 90 and it dropped to ~22.

Considering the facts that yours in 2005 model (higher HP than 2003 model) and 4X4, I guess your gas mileage is excellent.

I am consistently getting 14. 5 mpg on my 05 v-8 4x4.

Average is 17.62 MPG over 6800 miles.

Best to date is 20 MPG over 300 miles with 5600 on the odo.

I have seen this as well... Best gas mileage is 60-70 mph, after 70mph it drops quickly. I haven't tested gas mileage over 90 though... I can only guess that the extra wind resistance at 70+ make the engine work harder...

My average mileage to date: 8500 miles, 50% city, 50% highway 20.6 MPG

Best mileage: roughly 600 miles at 24.5 MPG, 3 passengers AC at 70, Cruise at 70, mostly flat highway.

Worst mileage: roughly 300 miles at 15.1 MPG, 5 passengers, towing 22' boat at 65 MPH, AC at 70, some minor hills.

Just got back from a trip. cruise set at 70 or so with brief 75mph areas to get away from tractor trailers. The puter showed 19.1 the whole trip. Hand calculations showed 18.6 so my puter seems to be close but I have no idea how anyone gets over 20 with AWD V8. If I was cruising around 60 I bet I could get maybe 19.5 but I just can't see over 20. Still think thats pretty good with AWD and 270+hp. My 97 manual with 32's and OME lift got 19.5 same trip and speed.
Around town really stinks though and drops that to 16.8 by hand calc.
Forgot, only have 1700 on it.

Yep. On my 5spd 1st gen, I get my best mileage of 25mpg at 50-55mph. At 65-70mph, it drops to 23-23.5, then to 21-21.5 at 75mph. Besides the lower wind resistance, engine rpm's are much lower, as at 50-55mph, I'm in the lower rpm range of 5th gear. So if you can get 20mpg at 70mph in a V6 4th gen, that's pretty good. Bear in mind that as engines age, fuel economy dives.
