my heater is TOO good!

once my truck is warmed up, basically the minute i turn it on, it warms up REAL nice, which is great, but my windows fog up IMMEDIATELY, and i hate switching from heat to defrost, and back again...

any ideas?

Just leave it on defrost. I usually just leave my heat running on the defrost/feet setting. It keeps the vehicle nice and warm, doesn't fog windows, and doesn't blow heat right on my face which I hate after a while.

I know that's not the answer you're looking for, but it works!

fogging up windows dosnt matter if ur air is on full or not, is it recycled or fresh air? to not fog up run it on fresh air, if u dont belive me, check the owners manual

I agree that the defrost setting still should blow out center vents at least a little so you get more direct heat on those colder nights.
And the defrost could work a little better on the side windows w/o having to turn the fan way up.

the defrost blows a TINY bit in the middle ones and a decent amount on the outside ones...but its not quite warm enough...idk ill figure it out, i was just wondering if it was just me

i remember early mornings going to seminary and having my sleeve up to the vent having the hot air blow in my shirt, man was it hot! once the car warmed up sometimes it go too hot i couldnt have my hand touch the vent

Mine get hot just fine but the air distributuion through the vents is weak and I have to swap between defrost and blowing full on the front top and lower vents to defrost the side windows better.

I don't like using defrost that much because once you press that button on the auto climate models, it turns the A/C on and I am very very stingy

My heater works great and you don't have to have the A/C on for the defrost to work, but it helps.. the a/c is pulling out the moisture in the air which helps defrost.

Its also not a bad thing to run your A/C during the winter, it helps the compressor and everything else run properly, esp come summer.

Hmm, whenever I press the dedicated defrost button for the front, i can feel my compressor turn on, just as if I hit the A/C button. The same thing happens when I put it on feet/defrost. Is this normal?

When I first read the title of this thread, I figured maybe you were having the same problem as me.

My problem is the 4Runner just gets too damn hot in general. Once it's warmed up, a constant stream of hot air blows, no matter if I press the off button or not. Is there any way to change this? Should I just turn the temp down?

Well if I remember right the A/C compressor runs whenever you use the Defrost, doesn't matter if the Ac is on or not...

To the issue of your cabin getting really hot; maybe you need to adjust the temp or even check to make sure maybe you don't have a leak? I had a buddies car that would do that but down around the feet it would blow hot air really annoying during summer...

That is normal.

When you select defrost only, the A/C compressor will come on automatically to remove humidity from the interior, which aids in defrosting.

the reason yours blows when you have the heater OFF is because you have outside air on...switch it to circulating and that hot air will stop blowing in
