My led bar screams on the road!

Ha, well we could all use one of those. I was replying to the OP. My money saving suggestion for you would to have mounted it to your bumper. Dont know how you guys can stand that hood glare.

Was this issue ever solved? I hate all the noise the lightbar makes. Whistling, and some vibration noise that sounds like your tire is running low ... i have a 50" curved lightbar and it is sooo stinking loud. Cant talk on the phone with someone past 70mph. I tried using doorstripping on the bottom four fins and it quieted down between 20-60mph in whistling but still does it at low speeds under 20mph, parking lot speeds.

So what really works? Please dont post a link to a product unless you personally have used it and know first hand that it works.

I put caulking in the fins like requested and it helped. I also tilted the bar down more so the face isn't fully hitting the wind. That seemed to help a lot and now it's only loud when I'm pushing 90 but it's not to much concern because my exhaust is much louder at that speed.

Bumper mounted light bar FTW. I doubt there's a way to make a front bar like that quiet, from an aerodynamic perspective it's going to encounter wind resistance and make noise.

Are light bars like that always mounted so low? Imagining the airflow coming off of the windshield I'm not surprised it's noisy.

What happens if you move it back against the rack?

From what it seems, the air hitting it head on is what makes the noise so if I move it further back I would have no choice but to point it straight forward and I believe the noise would be there. When I've tilted it all the way down so it's shining at the bottom of the windshield I have virtually no noise at all

A word to the wise BEFORE you spend money on an above windshield lightbar ...

you are going to have to deal with noise and there is no real fix. Aiming the light down to me is like carrying a handgun concealed but keeping the bullets in your pocket ... essentially when its time to use it you are going to have to adjust it. I just want to turn on the light and see it shoot precisely where i aimed it. I am still trying various methods to stop the whistle and noise. But I admit, its a BIG MISTAKE to get one of these unless you like a new noise.

Happy with the light, slightly displeased with the amount of noise. Not even to get rid of it, just enough to want a solution if there is one.

All you need is a few electric actuators, a small onboard computer and a new phone app and you can adjust the angle of the light bar from the driver's seat!

Problem solved! (And I'll bet there are guys on this board who could build that)

So I read up on this (God knows why - I have no need for one) and it looks like air running through the fins on the back is what makes a lot of the noise.

As an experiment, why not try running a length of duct tape on the underside of the fins and take it for a drive? Might not fix anything but it's a cheap test.

Believe me I've through about it. They need to be strong actuators to hold that weight and even just a toggle switch inside. That would be great because I constantly have to move my bar for driving or working in my yard. Anyone one to tackle this ill be first in line.

I figure there is no hope for the noise mine makes, so i just keep my sunroof closed wgen I'm going over 40 mph and hardly hear it, but with the sunroof opened at speed you have to yell back and forth to talk to the passenger. ... as big as it is i actually use the whole thing pretty often so i guess it is worth the noise lol

This is one of the reasons I put the light bar and roof rack behind the sunroof. Neither make any noise, that I can hear at least. Of course the trade off is, I cant get any light down low from the light bar.... But it's a good sacrifice because the light bar is only on 1% of the time I drive it.
