My Lift ideas for 2000 SR5 Sport

They say the 890's don't need extra weight, that is misleading. From what I understand, OME doesn't even offer a 3" kit. 890's get you 3", with a real harsh ride. Then Toytec gives you spacers up front to make 3 up there.

Excellent Info. Thanks! That is what I am looking for. How's the ride with the 891's? I don't carry extra weight too often or two much more than a motorcycle trailer so I was planning to get the 890's. Any reason to go with the 891's if I am not carrying the extra weight?

Also just noticed your sig says 285/75/16 BFG AT KO's - any rubbing? Should measure 33x11.5 give or take.

As far as the ride goes... it's a little stiff for some, but it IS a truck afterall. I only have a small tool kit, a misc box of crap and a sub in the back but it is probably only 60-75 lbs of weight and I like the way it rides. I am using the shocks that came with the RevTek kit (Rough Rider...I think) and it rides nice. IMO it's better than a pickup...if you know that feeling.

285/75/16 do rub up front on the upper control arms and at the frame behind the tires but only at full lock. The rears don't rub at all and stuff nicely with these rims.

The local ones are $70 for the pair but they are double pink/Lt blue/whit & double pink/dark blu/white so 7.5 & 8 wrap (19" & 19.5") which I'm thinking are 3.5-4" lift.

Are your 7.75 wrap LC's the orange, orange white? How much lift will they give?

.

I'm thinking 3.5" and yes, one is orange, orange white. the other is double pink grey white 7.5 wraps

Hmmm.... is that level? Seems 2.5 in front on the bilstein/tundra set up and LC coils in rear would give a rake to the front. No?

The bilstein's add addition height up and above the two inches you get from the TRD Coils. I have 7.5/ 8 wraps in rear and with the billy's in front set to the highest setting and 285/75 tires my rear is at 40" and front is at 39.5" (ground to fender)= perfect rake IMHO. (Originally at 34" front and rear with 265/70 tires). However, I have very little addition weight in rear so If you are planning on weight back there, regularly, you might want to put the billy's at the shorter setting.

Damn. Everytime I think I have it figured out "new" info comes along. HaHa.

Starting to think LC coils in rear, find TRD coils for front and the billsteins.

So with that setup and a 1" diff drop spacer the CVs will be ok?

Wellll.. what do you mean by "okay"? My cv's, like many others on here, are at a pretty significant angle over stock. They will break easier with this lift than without. Depending on your driving style offroad and/or difficultly of trail, front locker or not, you'll either not have many issues or you might break one quite often. Lots of people on here say 3" lift with a diff drop to make it a 2" impact is not a big deal on cv's but go past that and you'll prob get the dreaded snap noise from time to time. However it is not that expensive to fix. Worth it to me for the extra lift. :driving:

Just so ya know: after reading tons of Q&A's while doing research on here and yotatech, steezemcqueen, brian2sun and Baja Runner know more about the 4runner than Toyota does and could probably answer any ? you could possibly think of. Good luck!

Ok. Picked up a set of LC today at my local junk yard. Best I can tell they are these:

19.25" Double Purple Dark Blue White 8 wraps
19" Double Pink Light Blue White 7.5 wraps

I counted the wraps & they appear to me like they are actually 8 & 7.75. I measured them quickly at the shop and it looked like 18.75" & 18.5". I'll have to measure again later before install. Waiting for weather to improve.

Pictures & report to follow. Plan to install & see if it balances the rear vs. front. Front right now has a Revtek 3" spacer.

The whole point here and what I am hoping is that it comes out level. If not I'll look to raise the front up as necessary & figure that part out. Thinking about starting a search for the 2000-2006 Tundra TRD coils for the front... They had a set at the yard today but the color code was not the y/y & y/b. Think one was r/b. More research to come...

Collecting a bit of info and choices for the front too from threads...

Option 1 Tundra front coils y/y and y/b combo
Left Coil Part Number: 48131-AF100 (yellow/yellow)
Right Coil Part Number: 48131-AF090 (yellow/Blue)

Fit the following model years:
2000-2002 4wd, access cab, w/off road pkg.
2003-2004 2wd Access cab
2003-2004 4wd Access cab

Cost New: $120 each
ToyotaPartSales.com
Might be able to find some used for maybe $75 ea.??

2-2.5" but to get the best ride need to go with tundra billstein 5100 series height adjustible shocks for about $220 so $300 total.

Option 2 is easier and it is just the toytec/eibach front coils for a 3" lift. These are less at $150 ea. My shocks are riding well currently so not planning to upgrade the shocks if I don't have to.... Has anyone tried these? How do they ride?

Ok so the next questions on my front set up ideas.

Since I'm putting in the LC coils which according to the chart in the FAQ sticky thread say I'll get 3-3.5" of lift. I want the softer ride of the LC coils and my current shocks which I believe from the markings to be Rough Country shocks (751539 & 6305 or maybe 8305?). I don't carrry a lot of junk in my trunk. :haha so I'm going to see how well that works before replacing/upgrading. I'm hoping this list closer to 3 than over 3.5"

For the fronts which is the better set up for me as a daily driver and sometimes dirt excursions... w/ lots of snow and crappy roads.

a) Tundra TRD coils with tundra adjustable billsteins set to max or just short so 2.75-3" lift.
b) Tundra TRD Coils with my curent Les $chwaber Mtn Ryder Extreme Foam Cell Shocks (aka Gabriel) which will be 2.5 lift maybe so I'd add 1/4" or 3/4" toytec top spacer depending on what I need to get it the right rake or level. This seems like a cost effective set up and good ride.
c) Toytec/Eibach coil on 4runner billsteins - 3" Anyone have this set up - how stiff?
d) Toytec/Eibach coil on my current Les $chwaber Mtn Ryder Extreme Foam Cell shocks. 3" here too and again a cost effective set up with little need to adjust ride height. Anyone know how the
e) Toytec/Eibach coils on procomp shocks for 3" - thinking this will be the stiffest of the set ups.

I'm thinking the quality of ride there is in order of best to worst A-->E
Cost efffective probably favors either b) or d) and I'm thinking if going between those two the added cost of the top plate spacer is probably offf set by the savings on the shcok.

Actually I lean toward the full 3" lift I'll get from d) with the toytec/eibach spring and my current shocks with no spacer.

Has anyone tried the toytec/eibach springs and know how they compare with others?

Maybe someone else will chime in but I think you can get less lift out of the LC coils by removing the cone shaped bumpstops located on the rear spring perch.

I see. I'll have to check that out. Any serious repercussions of taking out the bumpstops?

Finally made some decisions on the lift.... Called Rancho and got some info re: what will fit.

Turns out the RS5762 made for the 4cyl motor has the same valving as the RS5763. Difference is that the 5762 has a bumper style top out spacer instead of a top out spring which gives it about 1.8" to 2" more travel over the std replacement model.

comp extd
Part # Body Length Length Travel Parts Pack
RS5762 SS3 13.620" 18.190" 4.570" P1167 (4cyl 4Runner & 4dr/2wd Prerunner TRD)

other options are:
RS5763 SS3 13.500" 16.180" 2.680" P1167 (stock 4 runner V6 shock)
RS5766 SS3 13.620 17.930" 4.310" P1167 (tundra)

For the rear Rancho RS5208 which are for the LC to go with the LC coils. Has an added 1.6" of travel & matched to the springs.
Part # upper lower comp extd
mounts length length travel
RS5187 S42 L3 12.690 19.810 7.120 P120, P1134 (stock 4runner)
RS5208 S51 L3 13.960 22.690 8.730 P120, P1167 (land cruiser)

All the parts are finally in and I'll be installig this week along with a panhard drop spacer to realign the rear axel. Roads around here are a bit bumpy so I feel the shimmy now with my current lift of 2" spacer lift in the rear/3" up front. Can't wait to see how it all comes out.

I would definitely go with the 890's if you plan on packing the back to camp or anything like it. The LC coils do ride nice, but they sag a lot more under load.

Rarely have heavy loads. Sometimes a motorcycle trailer but never anything too crazy. Current sag is bad enough though. Plan is to try the LC coils if i've a saggy butt LOL! then I'll swap out the rear coils or get a set of airbags to put in.

Right now my rear is 1.5-2" lower than my front. Trying to reverse that.
