My new '05 4Runner V6 SR5 at the beach

Living in florida, we don't get the chance to take our vehicles thru muddy trails, up mountains, or thru rivers....so I decided to take mine to the beach today.

Just picked it up last weekend, and I'm testing its capabilites.

Didn't want to take it too far in for fear of not getting back out again (it's a 4X2) but I kicked on the Auto LSD and got out of the sand just fine.

I LOVE IT!!!

Your new truck looks great! It seems the 4X2 4Runners are very much capable and handle great! I forgot what the word "beach" means as I sit here watching the white snow flakes fall from the sky.

Ole fortyOunces getting the Toyota feeling! Man, those Florida dealers really give ya'll some good deals on 4Runners. Did your 4Runner come from the dealer with those pinstripes. I've been thinking about putting some silver stripes on my runner where yours are! Congrats on your successive beach trial and error run. I knew you would enjoy and appreciate the capabilites of the 4th generation 4Runner.

It's still all stock and YES it did come with the pin striping (taupe).

At first I had planned on taking the stripes off, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it.

Next up is to get the front windows tinted. Then I gotta look into adding some video capabilites.

anyone have a link to a good thread about adding DVD/Video in the small compartment in front of the cupholders ??? That is such a huge waste of space, I'd love to install a pop-up monitor there and hide the A/V unit in the glovebox.

Man, I gotta get me some stripes down the side of my ride. The more I look at yours---the more I like it also. I'd like mine to be just a bit wider though. As far as your question on the A/V; I believe a few here have installed MP3 players in that compartment along with 6 disc units. I am sure it could be accomplished. Do a search on here (audio/electronics) to locate the threads. Good luck. BTW, I knows your wife be liking that new ride!

I'm telling you, it's real nice. The best part is the little Toyota logo that's set in the stripe about a foot from the end. It's TIGHT!

After looking at it closer last night, my stripe is actually two stripes, there is an understripe of a white color and then the taupe color offset over it. It's sweet.

Just noticed a post here about someone looking for the stripe and the dealer wants $95 to do it up. How hard can it be to lay down some stripes?? Find a starting point, attach a few inches of stripe, pull back the stripe to the end of the car (for length), cut, then go back and peel off the backing as you press it against the car.

It ain't that tough, doesn't cost much, and gives your ride a touch of class. Probably one of the cheapest mods you could do.



As far as the wife lovin' the ride, she's tried to steal it on quite a few occassions. :driving:
I still have my old car (2002 VW Jetta) and I decided to take it to work last Friday, when I get home from work, the Runner is gone and her almost new 2004 Accord V6 is sitting in the driveway. I purposely bought her a new car first so she wouldn't steal mine!!!! :wtf:


Guess I'm gonna have to trade in my Jetta and her Accord together and get a Limited and let her have the SR5.
