My new '95

Ok, I just got a '95 with the V-6.

It was manufactured after the head-gasket problem was fixed, so I'm good there, and I know the oil pressure gauge tends to read low on these, but I have a question anyway.

The gauge reads just above the 1st hash when the oil is good and warm and the motor is turning more than 1K

However, if I'm idling at a stop, the gauge moves all the way to the L.

Do you guys think this is serious? If so, what do you think is the culprit, oil pump?

My 1990 does the same, but it has been doing this for a long time. Currently has 294,000 and runs great, so this has not bothered me much, but I am interested to see what turns up in this discussion.

the oil pressure gauge on my 93 V-6 is usually a little to the right of the half-way point when driving 40-60mph. when it dips over to the first hash mark on th left, i know it is time to add some oil. curse you, leaky oil pan gasket!

The gauge on mine seems to read low as well. I just bought it and is the first Toyota I have ever owned and peole do tend to say they will read low. Would putting in a thicker old change that reading like a 5w-30?

I wouldn't change oil types/brands if the gauge is the issue.

I've noticed this issue on my 2 4runners (both 3VZ-E and '90)
The gauges seem to be abit off the record. When I switch the gauges between cars they show different reading, so I guess getting a new EXTRA oil pressure gauge would be a good idea.
