My "new" 98 T4R

Ok, so I've been looking for a 3rd gen now for about 8-9 months. Been all over CL watching, waiting patiently. Well, I changed my search criteria a little bit and found this less than 10 miles from my house! Super pumped.

163k on the odometer, all stock...never touched. $5300 got me a clean Carfax, no rust, v6, SR5, 4x4, auto, sunroof, rear heat, and even came with a roof-mounted Yakima bike rack! Here she is...sorry for the junky cell phone pic. All I have right now...I'll get more soon. Just picked her up last night. What do you think?

Coming from one who waited several months to get mine, I would say you did well. The price you paid is very good for Georgia. I love the look of a white runner, but I must admit, I like how mine still looks good after not washing it for a good long while. I would imagine white would be a bit worse in that regard.

Thanks for the comments. She really is a beauty. She's been garage-kept, so the paint is awesome, and there aren't even any acid rain spots on the windows. :thumb3:

The Runners here in GA seem to hold their value well. I looked for so long because I wanted some $$ left over at the end of my purchase to mod it. And as for the color--I'm digging the white. I think the white will hold/hide the dirt better than dark green or black--at least I hope so. I know my silver 03 looks great even with a little dirt on it.

This will be my daily driver. I want to be able to take offroad day-trips/mild wheeling also, so it will be dual-purpose. I'd like to not kill the fuel mileage (I'm coming from 13 mpg so anything more than that is nice), but a bigger tire is definitely in the plans. Feel free to add modding suggestions.

Nice clean truck Tin and a good price. I bought my '98 last week here in NJ after looking for decent priced 4th Gens for over a year. I didn't really like the look of the newer Generations and couldn't justify paying over $20,000 for a 3 or 4 year old truck that I wanted just because it was a Toyota(only make I have ever owned).

I got my '98 for $5,100 - 140K miles and in great condition like yours. Keep posting any mods or any ideas you have for it, my 4Runner is also bone stock and could use some suggestions,

Good find! I knew there would be someone with a better deal than me. But I felt good about my deal--and the folks that I bought it from had a stack of records all the way back to 04. :thumb3:

I'll definitely post up when I do anything to it...I haven't even gotten any daytime pictures of it yet! Work, work...daylight to dark.

Finally got around to taking some daytime pics of the Runner. Since taking these pics I have taken the bike rack off and removed the bug shield. The bug shield was making a whistling sound that started around 20 mph & got worse with speed.

I know the pics are boring and completely stock, but I'm still excited to finally be rolling in a 3rd gen! :thumb3:

Great pick up man! Im in the hunt for a new 4runner after my accident a few weeks ago. I hope I get this lucky while looking. Im in no rush since I want to get the right one!

Sell those bike trays make a little money and treat your Runner to something nice! Keep us updated with the mods!!

Great looking ride! Love them in white. I vote for tinting the front windows. I think the contrast of the dark windows all around looks amazing on the white.

The first timing belt was changed @ 64k, so she has right at 100k on the 2nd belt. I'll be doing the timing belt here in the next couple of weeks for sure.

Good luck on your hunt...There are plenty of Runners out there, just make sure you get the one you're looking for! And I may hang onto the trays for now, I like the option of putting them on if I want to go ride.

Believe it or not the fronts are tinted! Looks like they were done with 35% tint and it has faded to about 75%! lol I'd like to put 15% or 5% on the fronts to match the back and get a tint strip on the windshield, but I'll probably go 20% to split the difference. Our cops are too friendly with the tint tickets. olice:

Yeah, I guess you could say it's the "one". Maybe if I play my cards just right I can end up with a rig as capable as yours! :thumb3: I dig the ARB's front & rear and the bull bar. Seems like the wheeling possibilities are endless with those 3 items!
